My doctor was taking me off of cymbalta and was weaning me. First week every other day...second week every third day....third week.....every fourth day...just read on a post...that cymbalta has only a half life of 12 hours, which means if yo skip a day your body basically goes into shock from lack of drug. A cousin of mine I just found out had been taking cymbalta for 5 years and has lost teeth due to the drug. Pleasewarn everyone. My doctor should have have know this information about weaning off and gradually reducing the daily dosage.

I need help getting off of Cymbalta. I have tried to get off twice before and failed both times because of the terrible withdrawal symptoms. I love my doctor, but she does not have a clue about how evil Cymbalta can be when you try to stop taking it. I did manage to come down to 60mg from 90mg last month,as per her directions, but I thought I was going to die. Don't want to go through that again. There has to be a better way to come off of this stuff. HELP!

Now I am really worried. This is the first time I have read about anyone having trouble with their teeth while taking Cymbalta. Since being on Cymbalta, my gums have been inflamed at least three times. I have been thinking that it was tied to Cymbalta for some time. Just haven't heard anyone mention before today. Your cousin lost her teeth? OMG!

Dear Patty:
I had never read on this site someone loosing their teeth due to cymbalta.
I have had problems with my gums, but I thought it had to do with smoking cigarrettes??
Why did she lose her teeth??? what is the explanation???

I have been weaning slowly. I rather do that than doing the every other day approach. However I talked today to a friend that also took cymbalta and had no problem getting off it, by taking it every other day. She says that maybe was because another antidepressant had replaced cymbalta.

hugs
