Hi,
Don't even think about quitting Xanax cold turkey! and trying to get off Cymbalta. A
Xanax widrawl is so very, very hard to do, and most need help with this, or one ends
up just taking it again as they can't tolerate what they have to go through to get off of it.

How much do you take eachday? You have been on it a very long time now. Just coming off
the Cymbalta gives you anxiety, but like madtabby said it does get better over time, the
anxiety.

Take one step at a time, the Cymbalta is a big one to start with!!

I've been on multiple SSRI's and Cymbalta for the last year, 60 mgs. With my doctor's help, I'm tapering down to 30mgs starting today. Would be informative and helpful to learn from experienced, successful Cymbalta withdrawal.

Hi Audre,

A thousand congratulations getting to where you are now.

Can I ask what your plan is for getting off Cymbalta?

I found this board when I started getting symptoms trying to get of 30mg of Cymbalta by doing alternate days. I'd dropped to 20 from 60 without a problem, no doubt because I'd only been on 60mg for a few weeks and was trying to take it every 36 hours due to the side effects. If only I'd known then about the empty capsules and dividing the doses.

And welcome, hope your journey isn't too difficult.

Maureen.

Audre,
Welcome to the form. This is a great place for support, and much needed, well it
was for me when I first started all of this,

My nightmare began 6 days after the doc dropped me from 60 mg to 30 mg.
I was having horrible nightmares, couldn't sleep, well it's hard to describe,
sweating, abdominal pain, itching, anxiety through the roof, memory problems,
mass confusion.

Oh the list goes on, and on. Then I called the doc, and he said it had nothing
to do with the meds, but to go back to the 60 mg dose, I did, and a couple of
days later it all stop!

We are all different, but from what I have seen most have to decrease slowly
off this stuff. You think that the benzo's were hard, that's nothing!!! Does not
even come close. I am in recovery from taking mass quanities of all those kinds
of drugs, and many more. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do.
I do pray that your one of the lucky one's, and that you have no problem at all
with your getting off this crap.

Just remember that your brain is addicted to it, and when it is not getting the
drug, boy will it ever let you know about it!!!

Good luck with the decrease. Just know you have lots of options:), and support
when you need it too!
