I am searching for any information/links on abruptly discontinuing Cymbalta and Suicide? I will clarify, My Husband took his own life on July 14,2009 after abrubtly disconting Cymbalta, but still kept taking his Ambien CR. I Need all the information I can fnd on these two drugs and my web-searching actually brought me to your web-site. Thank you...Please read my full story on the Post of Ambien and Cymbalta CR.

I am a sufferer of depression and GAD. After 20 years of suffering with undiagnosed GAD (to be fair to the medical profession, it wasn't in the DSM back then) I stumbled upon Aropax following a bout of depression. Having had the therapy I badly needed at the time, I came good and did well on Aropax for 11 years. Last year I started having difficulty with sleeping and thought I was suffering the poop out effect, so I switched to Lexapro. A few months later I realised it was causing me more problems than it was solving so my GP agreed to give me a referral to a psychiatrist - so we could work out the best medicine for me. Nearly 3 weeks on Cymbalta and I've stopped already. I've had restlessness, increased insomnia (I now recognise that there is more to that), an inability to concentrate (the opposite of the real me) and nausea. I want to converse with others who are going through the same issues with medication.

It is unwise to go cold turkey from any psychotropic medication as brain chemicals / receptors have been altered and it takes time for the brain to return to its normal state.

It would be helpful if we knew why you were asking.

I just accidentally clicked on sweetchild's info, and she has posted that it's in regard to her husband, who has stopped taking medication abruptly.

Sweetchildof61, sorry if we sound brief, but there are 'reports' that those with something to gain from people staying on Cymbalta come onto boards like this scaremongering. I'm not suggesting that's you, just that given that that topic has come up recently here, it may be helpful if you share more information with us.

Have no doubt that you will find heaps of support and advice here.

kind regards, Maureen.

Hi Sweetchildof61,

I'm so sorry to hear of your story. I don't know a lot about anti-depressants, but I DO know that there is an increased risk in some people with some brands. For you to be ignored when you went looking for help sounds inexcusable.

As I said earlier, I don't know enough about the drug combinations, but had seen others post here who were on that combination, and from the replies it would appear that it's not generally considered a problem.

I think if I were you I'd be pointing the finger at Cymbalta, and the people who disregarded the cries for help.

So hard to lose the person with whom you had so much history, and so much to look forward to with.

kind regards,

Maureen.

Hi Debbie, I didn't mean here, I meant when Sweetchild61 and her husband were looking for support from doctors and hospitals and didn't get what they needed.

Sorry if my sentence sounded like I meant this board. :(
