I didn't use other meds for weaning... but am unsure exactly how long the weaning takes. I slowly decreased it until I was off. (maybe a month?) I had flu-like symptoms, anxiety, anger issues, etc. but I knew I had to get off it too.

I also knew that I did need some type of anti-depressant help so went back on Zoloft. Within a week of taking the Zoloft my life started becoming my own again. Other than the constant buzzing in my ears my quality of life has increased dramatically! I try not to focus too much on the ear buzzing since I can't do anything about it and think it's mentally unhealthy for me to dwell on somthing I can't change... I just figure out ways to deal, like keeping constant back ground noise going to "mask" the buzzing.

I wish you the best in getting off the Cymbalta. Hopefully you will end up finding "you" again.

:-)

Kelly,
What you did was not what we recommend here at all. We do a very
slow wean. You do seeem to be ok other that the buzzing in your head.
I used to get a clangging in my head when I would forget to take a
dose of this crap, or I get it sometime during the withdrawls, but it
goes away.

Withdrawl symptoms can last 6 mo to 2 years or longer. Does not make
any difference how long you were on the drug, or the dose.

If this continues, first see a EENT, but also thing about doing a very
slow wean from a 10 mg does or so? It would be worth it to have that
stop, and not have to live with background noise the rest of your life!

Debbie,

Are you suggesting I go back on Cymbalta at 10mg?? Why would I want to do that?? Really??

(I wouldn't go back on that crap if you paid me a million dollars... LOL.. but so very serious!)

Please explain...

Kelly,
the reason I said what I did was due to the way you came offf this drug so fast.
It only ends up causing more major problems down the road. I know the thought of
taking this crap again, I too would be like you, but not after my being around here
for so lond, and having to have gone through all I have. Also I have had to see so
many like you, come off it like that, only to have to come back, and restart this
med again, and slowly decrease, just to stop the withdrawls.

Like I said, this is a very long process, 6 mo. to 2 years, arre you really able to
just blow off that noise for that long? I would at least be wanting to get rid of as
many symptoms as I could. We had it bad enough for so long being on this crap, and yes
getting off, but as we have all found a very slow weean does help to stop from having
what going on with you.

Take good care,
Debbie

I am a sufferer of depression and GAD. After 20 years of suffering with undiagnosed GAD (to be fair to the medical profession, it wasn't in the DSM back then) I stumbled upon Aropax following a bout of depression. Having had the therapy I badly needed at the time, I came good and did well on Aropax for 11 years. Last year I started having difficulty with sleeping and thought I was suffering the poop out effect, so I switched to Lexapro. A few months later I realised it was causing me more problems than it was solving so my GP agreed to give me a referral to a psychiatrist - so we could work out the best medicine for me. Nearly 3 weeks on Cymbalta and I've stopped already. I've had restlessness, increased insomnia (I now recognise that there is more to that), an inability to concentrate (the opposite of the real me) and nausea. I want to converse with others who are going through the same issues with medication.

Debbie

The 6 months to 2 years thing doesn't apply to everyone. Some people can get off these drugs quite quickly with no problems at all. I think what Kelly has been trying to say is simply that she is much better off just on Zoloft. I am the same. Paxil works far better for me.

Cheers

Yes, I wish that everyone had only a simple symptom after a quick weaning-off ... some of the experiences on here are horrible and I feel so very much for all of you. Compared to the trials that others are going through, my ear ringing is a walk in the park... I know how lucky I am.... and I would rather live with the ear ringing any day... I would never chance having the side effects others have described... in my current situation, I would NEVER take such a risk and go back on this med... but, these are MY feelings in response to MY experience... who knows what I would choose if I went though any of the things so many others have from Cymbalta.... those who need to go back on it do what they have to do... don't we all? ...

Wishing everyone mental, emotional & physical well being... one day at a time...
Kelly
