Want cymbalta out of my system ASAP

Posted 18 February 2010 - 06:47 PM

Hello,

I recently missed two or three days of Cymbalta and then decided to turn to 30 mg by splitting them when I read on here the problems. Well, I am dealing with pretty bad WD symptoms right now. It is very similar to how I felt when I had an opiate issue and stopped. I am glad to say I am done with the opiate problem, but the Cymbalta is crushing me right now.

All I want to do is sleep. I cannot eat. I feel like I could vomit. I have these terrible cold sweats and water my shirts at work. I had to leave today because of this. I was sweating and taking tissues to wipe it. It was awful. This stuff is incredibly dangerous and most doctors are not qualified to give this out. I called my doctor that I wanted to taper this and all he did was call me in another 60mg script (Same). Another 30 bucks down the drain.

So, I just returned to my full 60 mg feeling these effects for about 24 hours. I did the half doses for maybe two or three days.

Is this return to the 60mg a good idea and I will use the details I got here to go down to 40 then to 30 and then to 20 and 10 and done. I may also ask for Prozac, which I stopped cold turkey and had no problem doing it (docs orders to stop cold turkey)

DO I really need to count those beads? Really?

I also wonder if using 5 to 10mg of Valium might help?

Hi, dropping from 60 to 40 is a big drop. Some can do it, but if you've had issues halving the 60mg dose, sorry, you're not one of them.

You don't have to count the beads until you get down to the smaller doses if you don't want to.

60mg is 540 beads, and most would recommend no more than a 10% drop at a time. You can tip out the beads to use later on for lower doses (you can buy empty gelatine capsules for this purpose).

I used my combination of 60mg and 30mg capsules to make up various doses. eg. 60 divided by 4 is 15mg. Divided by 5 is 12mg. What I like about this method is that I would have several days worth of doses prepared in about five mins if that.

Yes, prozac has helped many.

regards, Maureen.

After one year on cymbalta at 60 mg, I want to try to wean off again (after trying before and "failing.") The first wean, I was put on 30 mg for two weeks, and then told to stop. It was horrible. The withdrawl was evil. After withdrawls ended, after another month, I relapsed again (panicky, nervous), and was put back on Cymbalta again. I have been on it for over a year now, and was told by my Psych I have to be on drugs forever since I "failed twice". I don't buy it. I am going to see a new doctor and want to talk about weaning very s l o w l y, plus practice a depression-fighting diet, vitamins, etc. etc. I'm not sure if I can do this alone - I guess this is why I'm here. Looking for people with similar experiences who can relate, who UNDERSTAND Cymbalta withdrawl, and who have been through it before.

I recommend the bead counting method. It takes time and dedication, but is worth it.

That is great the bead counting has helped. By the time I knew about it - I think I was pretty far into the w/d. It seemed better to tough it out. Well, I know I would still do it, but I wish my doctor had given me more of an option.

Read my posts in the "What Are You Feeling" section... I had the symptoms you have and others. Lots of posts there about the different symptoms and ways to help with them. My favorite suggestion - Dramamine for the nausea. I would've never thought of that!!

Good luck to you!
