I am trying to withdraw from Cymbalta after approx. a year on it. I am miserable currently and hoping to find some answers on how to cope with this toxin in my system.

Hi all,
Other than feeling like a crazy person in premature menopause from all the sweating and hot flashes, I wanted to get off before my hubby and I try to have a baby. Does anyone have any research on how long the C will last before it's safe to try to conceive. We are going back to the fertility specialist on Thursday and I would like to have a heads up if we aren't going to be able to get started asap b/c of this toxin in my system. Although on a good note, I have been C free for 11 days and am still getting through it. Yesterday was a tough day with the brain zaps and the dizziness (but I also came down with a terrible cold, so I don't think that's helping one bit.) Today was much better, not too much zapping, just cold hands and shaking.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Em

I am a sufferer of depression and GAD. After 20 years of suffering with undiagnosed GAD (to be fair to the medical profession, it wasn't in the DSM back then) I stumbled upon Aropax following a bout of depression. Having had the therapy I badly needed at the time, I came good and did well on Aropax for 11 years. Last year I started having difficulty with sleeping and thought I was suffering the poop out effect, so I switched to Lexapro. A few months later I realised it was causing me more problems than it was solving so my GP agreed to give me a referral to a psychiatrist - so we could work out the best medicine for me. Nearly 3 weeks on Cymbalta and I've stopped already. I've had restlessness, increased insomnia (I now recognise that there is more to that), an inability to concentrate (the opposite of the real me) and nausea. I want to converse with others who are going through the same issues with medication.

Hi Emily

I think - but I'm not 100% sure - that Cymbalta is out of your body after about a week. However, the chemical changes it makes can take a lot longer to be undone. You will know when you feel ok. I'd recommend waiting until then before you start trying.

Good luck. I know what it's like to want kids. I have a son but was unable to have any more, despite 7 attempts at IVF :(

Thanks Junior,
I went my neurologist yesterday and he said that if my effects haven't subsided in a week or so to go back on 30mg every other day, however, I can't try to get pregnant if I go back on it. So, I suppose I will just suffer through them.

Have you noticed any correlation between sleep and the effects? It seems that when I get a decent (more than 2hours) night's sleep I am much less "buzzy" and dizzy. Although of course getting a good night's sleep seems to be the biggest challenge. I actually thought someone was trying to break into my house last night b/c the dog went berserk in my dreams. It get's tough to distinguish between the crazy dreams and reality some nights.

Whatever you do, please don't do the 'every other day' thing. It doesn't work. As I just said in another post, if I had a dollar for every time I've heard someone talking of horrible wdls following this regime, I'd be rich! Honestly!

If you DO decide to go back on C, stay on the one dose for a week or so then slowly taper, incrementally. It's by far the best way. You won't need to be off it for long before you can try for a baby.
