Hi Everyone.

I was taking Cymbalta for almost 2 years and was feeling great so i decided to stop. I have a great Doctor in NYC who is very caring and put me on a 9 week withdrawal plan. I was only taking 30mg for 1 1/2 years but we went down to 20mg for 2 months and then over 9 weeks i slowly decreased and have been totally off for almost 2 weeks now. I was feeling great the fist week but this past week my stomach has been a mess just feel like i have a stomach ache or cramps all the time. I am just curious if this is normal or if i should go see a doctor because these stomach pains might not be related. All throughout the wthdrawral stages i was having stomach issues but it seems to be bad now.

Please let me know,

Thanks,
Jordan

Dear Jordan:

The stomach discomfort is related to withdrawal

Hi Jordan,
I too was only on 30mg for about 2 years and am weaning off of Cymbalta. My doc prescribed 20mg after I informed him that it was an option. Can you please tell me more about your 9 week plan. I took the 20mg for a week and felt great, then 15 mg for a week same...I tried 10mg and got horrible a horrible headache. Can you please give me more info?

Thanks,C

Hi C,

For the first 2 weeks i skipped every sunday
then skipped wednesday and sunday for 2 weeks
then i skipped every sunday, wednesday and Friday for 2 weeks.
then for 2 weeks i only took it on monday and thursdays for 2 weeks
then finally i took my last pill the following monday

this coming monday i will be fully off for 2 weeks now. Not sure if this was a good method or not but it has seemed to work for me emotionally. I have not had an side effects except for these stomach pains for the past week. Crossing my fingers that its only this for a little while and nothing else creeps up. I will keep you posted if i have any other effects.

Goodluck with your journey it is not easy

Hi Jordan,
Thank you for sharing your taper schedule. I will try this, anything to avoid the headache I get if I go down too fast.

Thanks,C

Caroline,

I don't know where you are in the process, but one thing that has been suggested by most people on the board here,is not to skip days, it just make the withdrawl worse for most people. I hope this helps.

Hi Joh, Thanks for the advice. I guess I am just anxious to get off this stuff. I tapered from 30mg to 20mg no problems, even to 15mg no issues but when I tried to get to 12mg I got the headache. I have been at 15 for 10 days now and tomorrow am going to try again to get to 12. I just want to be off this stuff...

Thanks,
C

Just want to follow up for everyone. I have been off now for almost a month and this weekend i felt great. No more stomach problems. I got lucky it seems with side effects because i never had brain zaps or headaches i just had a terrible stomach.

Just wanted to share that there is light at the end of this dark tunnel
