    3weeks without cymbalta

Thank you for this board! I have been reading faithfully for several months and used all the tips to wean off Cymbalta. My husband faithfully counted beads for me and I am happy to report, I am off of Cymbalta!! It can be done!!

I am 3 weeks off Cymbalta. Still having side effects. They are getting better....but still hanging around. Wanted to post the good news for those just starting out:) You can do it! And then post my continuing side effects in hopes that we can commiserate together, or someone can offer some advice.

Still having:
brain zaps-getting better! but worse when on the computer or tv...things with flashing screens will set this off!
fever-new in the last 2 weeks, low grade fever that comes and goes...boo!
shivers-mostly at night
no appetite-forcing myself to eat small, nutritious meals and snacks for energy...and I have low blood sugar
trouble driving-having trouble with my eyes focusing, but this is getting better
light sensitive- i hate lights!! no night driving for months now b/c of the headlights....reason I stopped Cymbalta
crawling skin-irritated by touch, arrgh!! getting better
achy muscles

+++Why does this drug affect the eyes so much???

Positive, the weight is starting to come off a little bit. Drink lots of water!!

Note: I was given Cymbalta for fibromyalgia pain and grief. I have now been taking a homeopathic remedy called Ignatia for the grief/ anxiety. Works wonders for those moments! Check out your health food store. Also, meeting one on one with a Yoga Therapist for pain management...worth all the time, energy, and every penny.

My fear: that these symptoms are with me to stay. But I've been through too much to settle for that! So here we go-off Cymbalta and now ready to conquer the after affects.

Cheering for all of us!

Dear Stepmom:
Thank you for giving us hope. and thank you for posting. It is so interesting to now how people are doing after they quit
I was reading your symptoms, I´ve experienced changes in appetite, sensitivity to light and sound, and achy muscles. However my eyes do not bother me as much as you mention. I guess everyone is different

It is great that you are trying homeopathy and meeting with the yoga therapist. I go to yoga classes, is there something special about the -yoga therapist- you are going??? what is the difference between a regular yoga instructor and a yoga therapist???

Keep on doing well

A yoga instructor will lead group classes, or one on one...and teach the yoga poses. But a yoga therapist has been trained to use the yoga poses for treatment of various health issues. They know more specifically what poses will help with healing. And working one on one, the therapist can focus on my health issues and what is best for healing my needs. For example, with insomnia....she has given me a specific yoga routine to do right before bed. I also suffer from endometriosis and she works with my regular doctor to help me break up scar tissue and strengthen muscles.

All very interesting!

Hi Stepmom:
Wow! sounds very interesting and useful. Yoga is an ancient thing. Each pose works for a certain chakra, gland and hormone. I try to do all poses, since I do not really now which position is the one that helps me. The idea of a yoga therapist sounds great.

I think the fact that you are feeling so much better, is because you are on the right track. (Yoga and homeopathy).
Traditional medicine, just puts a band aid on the problem, masking the illness, and hiding the symptoms, but it does not cure. Homeopathy makes the own body return to its own balance and heal itself. I know there are times in which one needs traditional medicine (when symptoms are just unbearable). But the best healing for me is keeping as natural as I can.

I do not remember exactly why you took cymbalta (depression or fibromyalgia?). In my case I took it for Depression. I´ve been weaning slowly from 60mg to 13mg. And I have to look for an alternative treatment for when I get to 0mg. Because I think I DO need some support with my depression.

It would be very helpful to me, if you refreshed my memory on why did you take cymbalta in the first place....which were your initial symptoms, what withdrawal symptoms you had when you quit completely and how long they last.

Hugs
