Following a long period of awful depression, I was prescribed Cymbalta by my physician. It was GREAT for me for over two years. Now,close to 4 years, my doctor suggested that I should wean myself off. At the time, I spooked, so he backed off.
However, at about Thanksgiving I decided to try on my own. Family members had noted that my memory was not sharp anymore....Actually, I had noticed it too. I have taken the 6o mg cap, so decided to skip occasionally. As Christmas approached I determined to do a cap every other day. It seemed the season to be jolly without Cymbalta and WITH my memory !
Strange. Stairs began to make me feel a little dizzy. Driving across bridges gave me claustrophobia. Even a curb here and there struck me wit h a bit of vertigo. My fingers are so jittery that it is somewhat difficult to text on my iPhone. Then, following a post Christmas party I drove ALMOST home....I say almost because my brain suddenly left me. Fortunately, I was only moving at about 5 mph, so did no harm or damage.
The next memory was that of being cuffed and taken in. Yes, I had 4 glasses of wine over some 4 hours of the evening, but left feeling fine and fit and drove probably 10 miles homeward with no problem.
Does any of this sound familiar to any of you Cymbalta passengers out there?

Sorry- getting used to this format for the first time. So yes, I have jittery wrists and today fingers and elbows, the wrists seem to be better. Legs have felt quite shaky and weak, improving. A lot of dizziness, also has improved. I've been avoiding driving as much as possible mostly due to fatigue. I feel like I could sleep at the drop of a hat, but really I can't. Gotta love that fence-top. I go up and down stairs every day, they have been troublesome at times due to dizziness and the weird eye effect others have spoken of, but for the most part the stairs seem not too bad. I trying to avoid alcohol just beacause I feel I have enough to evaluate without that complication. On the occasions I have, I've been home and have no way of really marking what difference it made, with the exception of knowing I still like to drink and it has a too strong lure for me these days. In case you haven't discovered yet, alcohol can be a dpressant in itself. I have learned that within the three days following too much I will be heavily weighed upon with the blues, but also have learned that it is merely a reaction to the alcohol and will pass. Sometimes, for me, it is worth the drink, sometimes not. I am thankful for that insight I can tell you. And I credit that learning to focused self-observation (like pulling teeth, I tell you). Best wishes on your push through this chapter.

I'd like to know what's the longest period of time someone at this site has gone without cymbalta, with a recap of feelings at the one month, two month, three-month, etc. point, so I'd have an approximation of what to expect, given that everyone's experience is bound to be different...

What I'd like to see is a place where people come back to after they're completely off cymbalta, and the last unpleasant reactions are gone. This may be difficult to achieve, because once someone's got their life back, s/he probably wants to get on with life and not think about cymbalta and stuff...

Agreed, that would be good to know, I have been wondering when can I call it over. I haven't been on the site lately as I have felt really good for the last few days, but yesterday noticed a return of symptoms. I have been keeping notes onmy feelings and being good about dating the entries, but am not wanting to go back and look over it as I don't know if I am strong enough to examine what I have been feeling too closely. It is close to time to review this and see what I can learn though. Loosely, I am 20 days off of 30mgs. I have had physical withdrawal symptoms, eye weirdness, fatigue, constant headache ( was that 10 days idk, seemed forever but much better now!)dizziness, tremors in my arms and legs, today I have some tingling in the fingers. Emotionally I have felt optimistic about making this move and am oddly (for me) determined to feel what I feel. Perhaps for that reason it has been fairly okay, I have to read my notes here, it is foggy(most hate that - the loss of my brain function) On days 18-20, I felt GOOD (means a great deal more than the word looks like, but I'll bet y'all can relate). On the 21st I caught a couple depressive moments, on the 22nd I had an even greater number, but not a return to the depths. Best wishes to you

I'm new here as of today. I'm self-employed so I don't have much time to read all the questions and answers in the forum. I'm happy to know that my symptoms are a result of coming off of Cymbalta, after years of a 60 mg dose, instead of illness, though it is rough either way.

My doctor cut me to 30 mg three weeks ago, then one every other day for a week. I haven't had a capsule in 10 days. I have had the headaches, dizziness, diarrhea, and nausea. I had two semi-melt downs and felt horribly anxious for 4 days. I'm over that part, but still have the lingering diarrhea and nausea.

I was started on the medicine to treat menopausal symptoms and fibromyalgia. I no longer needed it for menopause. I am more concerned with the side effects of long term use than with the fibromyalgia.

How long can I expect the diarrhea and nausea to continue?

God bless each of you as you walk through this.

I have been completly off of Cymbalta now for 6 days. I am miserable. I have a hard time finding words to say, as well as not being able to type very well. I have taken this drug for 5 years. I hate it. I just need to know how long the withdraw lasts. I don't want to go back on it. I am not a cryer, but find myself crying over everything. I am very sensitive to many many meds, so I don't know what to do at this point. I had to stop taking it, because I know now that it was causing MIGRAINES and many other side effects.
I don't understand why DRs. prescribe these drugs that can virtually hurt us. Is it natural selection???
