To see if what withdrawals others get. How long it may last?

Hi All,

With the unbearable effects of weaning off cymbalta. I read today that the side effects can last any where fom one week to one month (with a little give and take, here and there).

I originally had been on 60mgs for about 6months, then for about two months was on 30mg every second day. It's not until I finished my cymbalta on 30mgs, have I really noticed the impact of the withdrawls.

My main withdrawl is the brain zaps (it's been hell!) and others that i see other people have; ie thirsty, achy and weak etc.

I'm taking multi-vitamins, drinking water and any other advice I read on this site, to help ease the brain zaps.... still I'm waiting.
I can say, the first several days were okay, until Monday came around (~fourth day off cymbalta). One of the worst days for brain zaps, weakness and down right over the whole withdrawl crap by the evening. Tuesday, was so much better, I could bear the brain zaps, except today Wednesday, it's like Monday all over again.

As I didn't fully understand the weaning off process (my doctor didn't say it was going to be this bad), I'm not sure if going 30mg every second day then to nothing was the right choice. Has any body else gone from 30mg every second day to none? Are you able to give advise on how long it took you to be good again. (for me it's been nearly a week off cymbalta.)

Thanks,
Anita

Hi maria,

Sorry about the delay.
I found my brain zaps have ceased and the only thing now is i find I still get emotional sad/angry at a drop of a hat (very easily).

I feel like I am functioning normal however, my lower back and neck are really sore.
Now, I'm not sure if that's to do with maybe having slept wrong, but i do consider my bed to be comfy.

I thought about going to a registered massage therapist (hopefully this will help), as I haven't really found anybody experiencing back issues in this forum.

How are you? Do you feel "normal", or still having sight emotions issues also.

Thanks,
Anita

Dear Anita:
I am also having lower back and neck pain. Did you have these pains prior to the medication???

I was told that this was not an SSRI by my psych. I asked MANY times is this an SSRI, knowing that i have problems with this class of chems, and was told this was not an SSRI. Now I know this isnt an SSRI but an SSRI+. Thanks Doc for prescribing me POISON.

I'm on day 5 as of this writing. WOW, never experienced something as traumatic down to the core of my being, and I had a gun shoved in my face for some one elses money! True story, but i digress, These brain Spasms or Zaps or Twinges these are actually electrical storms taking place inside our heads. Sounds kinda sci-fi far-fetched BULLS**T but its true. Cymbalta which is a Selective Serotonin Re uptake Inhibitor and also a Norepinephrine Re uptake Inhibitor causes these two chemicals to stay longer in "limbo" between the sender nerve cell to the reciver nerve cell, ( lay-mans terms}, causing better electric signaling from the two especially with the serotonin in the equation. When your brain is used to taking this poison for a while it keeps putting out serotonin knowing at some point it will be absorbed by the receiving nerve cell and all will be grand. When you run out of the indigestible chemical i.e. CYMBALTA your brain tries to carry on the "common" routine. Now faced with more seratonin it can absorb the electrical bond between the two could be skewed. Kinda like lightning strikes twice unless you take CYMBALTA for a while then stop. With my with drawal from flouxetine or prozac i know that these symptoms can get out of control but they can also be controled. I need more info on how to control these. So far I know is that antioxidants area a good try that and DHA omega-3 fatty acids might help. but thats just getting me better. How can I stop this from happening to another living person? No being in this world should be subject to such cruel and hideous punishment for trying to make them selves feel better. For trying to become better members of society. No One. This horrid practice of "let them buy it cause they think they need it, we'll get the answers later" type of mentality that "Big Pharma" promotes needs to end. Do we all need to suffer before they will help? And I do not mean with means of another narcotic that just rolled of the assembly line.
