In the future I would like to stop cymbalta

I went through this with effexor. I had no idea cymbalta was virtually the same or I never would have gone on it. It could be my imagination but I think it's actually worse. I've avoided effexor like the plague, only to be ambushed by cymbalta. I'm three, (or maybe four, I can't remember), weeks into life completely without cymbalta, and I feel as poorly as I did the first day. I tapered until there was nothing left to taper, then I spread it so I would go days without it, then take one, then without, finally I stopped it all together. Does this get better? I'm starting to wonder. Every bone and joint hurts, my skin, at times, feels like it's on fire. My feet at times itch so badly, I've made them bleed, scratching them. I also have the usual dizziness, zaps, nausea, bouts of diarrhea, abdominal pain but no crying bouts. I am, however, dealing with profound waves of anger. The line between justified and imagined anger have become blurred.

Oh, well...Merry Christmas

Dear Flopo:
I am sorry to hear this is the second time, you have gone through something like this.
How did you taper???? How long did it take you to wean??? Which was your last dosage???
I´ve had the same symptoms you describe: joints hurt, itching, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, waves of anger.

I've been on it for several years, I was put on it for nightmares secondary to PTSD. Was on 90mg, weaned down and off over a period of about 3-4 weeks. Last dose was 30mg. I've read of people who tapered right down and continued to split doses, but when they went to the final stage, of "0", their symptoms were just as bad. Right now I would just settle for a decrease in symptoms.

Hello:
I´ve been weaning slowly for 8 months. I do not know if when I get down to "0" I will have full withdrawals just like the people who go cold turkey. I just have the feeling they will be less severe.
I read that your last dose was 30mg. Cymbalta comes also in 20mg presentation. Did you consider that???
