trying to get this toxin out of my body!

Posted 27 December 2010 - 01:58 PM

I am taking about 19mg of cymbalta with 20mg of prozac for about 5 days now. Feeling somewhat human and functional. Went shopping, eye doctor appt and even dealt with the after xmas crowds at Target.

I am crossing my fingers that the bottom does not fall out from under me. Knock on wood..........I am feeling "ok" today.

There is hope!~

Trying to stop taking Cymbalta, after 3 years.

I am glad you are feeling better. I am down to 30 mg. from 120 mg. I did not seem to notice the side effects as bad when I went from 120 to 60. But this last decrease is a bit rough! Last week I barely made it out of bed. This week I am actually getting stuff done. I will have to stay on this dose for a few weeks. I hope this transition is the worst of them  ! I am heading back to work next week and need all the stamina I can muster. Good luck!!!!

I didn't feel the drops as much in the beginning either. I used to take 90mg for a week each month and then drop down to 60mg again for the remaining 3 weeks. Never felt it. When I started lowering past 20mg is when it started to get a little bit uncomfortable for me. That's when I decided to add the Prozac.

I agree with your decision to stay on the 30mg for a few weeks until you feel really strong.....then take the next drop. Good luck!

Having people who understand is a great help too.

I feel better today than I have in a LONG time. :D :D

20mg of prozac, 18 mg of cymbalta.

No dizziness, no headache, a bit tired but no more than usual, no nauseau.

I want to bottle this feeling and never let it go. I haven't felt this good in a long time. If anyone up there is listening.....PLEASE let me feel this way for a long time. :)

So glad that you are doing well. I think that everybody deals differently with Cymbalta and the dosage. About a year ago, I was seeing a psy doctor for depression. I take the Cymbalta for nerve pain and it does nothing for depression (unless I stop taking it, of course). Anyway, he put me on Welbutrin and when that didn't work, he doubled the Cymbalta from 60mg to 120mg. I tried this for 3 months and came to the conclusion that it didn't help. I was nothing but a bi monthly paycheck to this doctor. He was always ready to hand me new drugs and tell me about the ones that he used that worked so well. But he did nothing to address the cause so I stopped seeing him. I stopped Welbutrin cold turkey. No symptoms. I went from 120mg Cymbalta back to 60mg with no weaning. No symptoms.

Going from 60mg to 30mg for one week produced only minor symptoms the same as going 30mg every other day. Slight anger, sadness, and easier to get agitated with people. But keep in mind that I have always been able to skip one day of Cymbalta, regardless of the dose, and suffer no problems. Now I'm going to 30mg every 3rd day. Today is day one so it's too early to say how that will work out. I know that there has been one side effect that I like. I seem to be more alive and motivated. I had gotten to the point where I just didn't care about anything. My house and my car were garbage pits. I had the mentality of leave it where it falls. Meaning that if I dropped something on the floor or through something in the corner, it would still be there months later. I'm actually starting to clean house and am getting satisfaction from the effort.

Good luck to all.

Rick,

I am on Wellbutrin too. I have always used it in conjunction with another SSRI or the Cymbalta. I am wondering whether it will be effective on it's own. I have forgotten to take the Wellbutrin several times with no side effects. This cymbalta...on the other hand...

I hope that you do well on the 3rd day regimen. Let us know......

Winding down on day number 2 at 0 Cymbalta. I definetly feel strange. Not terrible but not pleasant either. The doctor said that if it gets too bad, switch from 20mg prozac to 40mg. I take my 30mg cymbalta tomorrow so I guess I'll see how I feel then.

Took out another 10 beads of cymbalta this morning. I haven't exercised this week due to holiday schedules and all so I am going to be back at it today. That always makes me feel better.

I am having hope and looking forward to the days of being off Cymbalta. I don't feel hopeless and frustrated today.....that may change though. :P

Been taking an additional 10 beads out each day. Took 80 out this morning which brought me down to 11mg.

Didn't feel great yesterday and was nervous about going down again today but I feel much better today. Working out really helps and takes the edge off the withdrawals.

FINALLY........I hope the end is near.

:) :)

I'm glad you are doing well with this method. I'm still following my doctors method but am accelerating it on my own. I took 30 mg yesterday after 3 days at 0. Starting today, I'm going to try for 4 days at 0.
