Ann-

Did you quit cold turkey or do a wean?

I was on 5 years as well and have been weaning for 2 1/2 months. I was on 90mg at one point and down to 9mg. Plan to be off within a few weeks.

It sucks no matter which way......it's just a level of how much 'suck' you want to handle.

I was refused my cymbalta refill by my workers comp carrier and I took my last dose on december 25th. What I have learned about this drug in two weeks has me in utter shock. I have been out of work since april 20th due to a pulmonary embelism and was released to go back to work in June, However I have been doing to my doctor about haveing almost every symptom mentioned in this forum related to cymbalta but was never related to this drug. Now I am out of a job, have no insurance so I have to change all my doctors. This drug is very dangerous and the side effects from it are very hazardous to ones health. I have been experiencing shortness of breath, wierd feeling in my head, sweating , severe tiredness and irritability since I have been refused my medication. While I was taking this drug I was falling asleep at work and was irritable , had insomnia was sweating all the time.I also had light headedness and shortness of breath, I reported all these symptoms to my PCP and was referred to 4 different specialists where all did extensive testing to find out why I was haveing them. Until I found this forum I was not able to connect the dots to this drug. At least I know now. I am looking for an attorney to represent me in a law suit against the Insurance carrier who put me throught the hell I whent thru for the last two weeks (who knows how much longer it will last) and then against elli lilly for what this drug has done and continues to do to my life and body. One thing I could use some help with is if anyone out there has any idea if cymbalta has or can be connected to blood disorders? I E pulmony embellism! I would apprecate any and all input and one can give me.

I can sympathise with you. I just realized that my back and legs have been very painfull the last couple of weeks and since you mentioned that you have the body ache that this is one more symptom of this drug. THE SAID PART OF THIS IS PAIN IN MY RIGHT SHOULDER IS WHY I WAS PUT ON THIS DRUG IN THE FIRST PLACE. Hang in there and lets hope we can find a way to out last this horrible drugs effects on us before it gets us. By the way If anybody knows of a attorney in New York or a surrounding state I am interested in talking to them...

I've been off Cymbalta cold turkey since December 24th (Medicaid ran out). I have pretty much had EVERY symptom listed for withdrawal from this drug. The latest being diarrhea and HORRIBLE body aches. I feel like I've been in a car accident. What makes things worse is I'm a new mom. SO, at first I wasn't sure what was "normal" postpartum blues or what was withdrawal. Sometimes I have have such deep sadness and apathy that I'm borderline suicidal. And then it passes.... for awhile. If I had known about all these withdrawal symptoms, I would have NEVER taken this drug. Why don't doctors tell you this?? Because they don't know (unless they have experienced it themselves). My doctor has TONS of free Cymbalta samples waiting for me to pick up. I think I've made it this far in detox... do I REALLY want to start all over?? I just want to feel good. I want to be productive. I'd really like to feel well enough to go outside for a walk. Between the physical pain and "withdrawal-induced" depression, I don't know when that will be possible.

Jennifer,

I am NOT a Dr but a fellow Cymbalta struggler and a woman who has had terrible postpartum depression in the past. I am coming off of Cymbalta right now and everything else in my life is pretty smooth and it's still difficult. Personally I don't think that I could handle withdrawing from Cymbalta AND taking care of a brand new baby at the same time. If you think that Cymbalta was helping with your depression and anxiety then I would continue on it until your life is a bit more stable. You need to take care of yourself and your baby. There is always time later on to start to wean from Cymbalta. Cymbalta has helped many people and there is nothing wrong AT ALL with saying that you need the extra support right now.

Just my opinion but I feel your pain and know what you are going through.

Pam :)
