Hi there,
I have been on cymbalta for about five months. My doctor wants to keep me on it for about a year he said.
I have been doing some research out of curiosity, and I am terrified for the day that I have to go off it.
After reading a lot of posts on this board, I am seriously regretting taking this medication (even though it's effects have been very good for me with little side affects).
Does everyone have awful withdrawl symptoms? Does anyone know what the most common symptoms of withdrawl are? Are these the worst cases I am reading about here?
Im worried, because I am not prepared to have this drug make me feel like death and destroy my life.
HELP
Maxine-
I din't know if this will help at all, but I just went through a two year cymbalta ordeal with my wife. First off, no two people will have the same issues with detox. Everybody is "wired" differently, so the regimen that works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another. Most everyone will have some sort of withdrawl symptoms. How severe depends on the person, and how slow you come off of the drug. Typically, the slower the better. Plenty of quality rest, and lots of fluids are essential (you can read my wife's story @ follow the yellow brick road on this site). Do yourself a favor and read about other peoples journey through cymbalta detox on this site, then preferably with the help of a knowledgeable MD, put together a plan for your own detox. Best of luck..... this can be done with positive results, I have seen them.
Take care
