trying to get this toxin out of my body!

Posted 29 January 2011 - 09:53 AM

It's been a whole week since I took my last Cymbalta and thankfully I have felt nothing. A few headaches over the last few days but those might be sinus and/or weather related. If that's the worst of it then.....I will take it. :P

I am not sure if my success is from weaning so slowly (over 3 months) or adding Prozac at the end. I have tried cold turkey before and couldn't handle it after a few weeks and went right back to Cymbalta. I know that this time I am fee. ;)

It is possible to get off Cymbalta.......it's just not an overnight or easy process. :(

In addition to the very slow weaning and Prozac I added Omega 3 vitamins, Flax Seed, TONS of water, cardio exercise and plenty of rest.

I wish everyone the best as they try and move past this drug.

Pam :D :D :D

Dear Pam;
I hope it continues to go smoothly for you. I think both, weaning slowly and adding prozac at the end, were the things that help you beside omegas and exercise.
Are you planning to stay on prozac or quit?
Cookie

Hi Cookie-

I think that I will probably stay on the prozac at least until the spring time. So far I haven't had any side effects and I know that it is easy to quit when I decide to stop taking it.

How are you doing lately?

I am desperate. I have been taking this medicine for five months now after a series of traumatic events that sparked high anxiety. My symptoms have grown worse. I have electric shocks in my head and spine and a feeling of terrible chemical burning in my back and spine. The doctors say it is me (even though I do everything to help myself) I reduced the dose from 60g to 30g around 8 days ago. I feel flu like and the burning sensation is constant. I am losing all hope of ever getting better. I need some help and advice.

I am sorry you are in so much pain. I have seen a withdrawal plan set out by a Professor in England. I do not know if we can post names on here, but send me a message and I will give you their details. I am in agony at the moment after dropping from 60 g to 30g around 8 days ago as advised by my doctor. For me it is the electric shock pains, the burning sensation in my spine and back and the hopelessness that is destroying me day by day.

I am sorry that Emma and Jennifer (who both posted today) feel so cruddy.

I felt like that many times over my withdrawal experience. I have tried to go cold turkey and ended up going back on within a few weeks.

When I started weaning back in October I did try and go from 60 to 30 but found that the drop was too much. I asked my Dr. for a RX for 20mg and I started combining different pills to get the dosages that I wanted. 60 to 50 to 40 etc.......
I did it really slowly because I couldn't stand the dizziness, headaches or nausea that would happen if I dropped too fast.

When I got to 20mg of Balta I added in Prozac and I think that it what made it bearable for me. There were still days that I felt like crud, a few that I stayed home from work and some that I felt hopeless that I would always feel as bad as I was. Even after adding in the Prozac I continued to take the Cymbalta, just less of it each day until I was down to taking one little PELLET of that crap, not even 1mg but one PELLET.

It DOES get better though........I am 2 weeks free of Cymbalta and have felt great.

Have hope!!!!

All my best,
Pam

Hi Pam! I'm down to 20 and am dreading going further. Missed one dose and felt horrible.. in fact took 2 weeks to get sorted out. I started opening up a bunch of 30mg caps I still had thinking I would count beads and then gradually reduce... but the 30's I have have 290, 293, etc... not 270 as I have seen elsewhere on this forum.... So I am not sure if the beads are the same as other batches people are counting. Which is making me crazy!!! I am considering adding in Prozac as I have seen some folks find that helpful.. how much did you take and how often?
Thanks for your help.
