From my reading on this forum and my own experiences, taking an SSRI during the weaning period can ease the Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms. Lots of the SSRIs are much easier to come off. That's what I've done in the past and am currently doing to get off Cymbalta. I've used Prozac in the past and am currently using Celexa. You might ask your physician about this approach if you are experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms.

I have just added Celexa to help with my weaning from Cymbalta. I'm really hoping it will
work, as I am having a really hard time weaning down. What kind of schedule are you on?
Are you increasing Celexa as you decrease Cymbalta, or are you just adding in a certain
amount? I would really appreciate any tips as I'm pretty much on my own with this. My
Dr. knows nothing about withdrawal. Thank you for any insight you can give!

I used Prozac to wean but don't know if it helped. I hurt my back and my doc put me on Methadone for pain. I did my entire Cymbalta wean while on Methadone and Prozac and the symptoms were slight. Not suggesting this route because you then have to get off of the Methadone. Just wondering if anybody else has any comments.

I was on cymbalta when I started methadone and I think it change the chemistry of the drug because I became suicidal. I thought it was the methadone but when I switched to celexa my depression lifted 100%. I guess it all depends on the person.
