Well, I have been taking Cymbalta for about a year and a half and have continued enjoying alcohol almost every Friday, sometimes more (vacation).
Wine, Margaritas, Beer - I have not really had any issues. I started my weaning off Cymbalta journey today, so I guess I'll see how it goes and determine whether I feel like having a drink or not.

Is there anyone out there who will admit to drinking alcohol and taking Cymbalta or drinking alcohol while withdrawing?

I was on 30mg and 60 mg for 6 weeks each. I drank heavily (enough to be hungover) 5-7 nights a week while on this medication. I was put on this medication in April 2011 for Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I started at 30 mg, felt good for a week, started drinking heavily again, then was eventually put on 60mg. I felt good for a week and then started drinking heavily again. I quit the 60 mg cold turkey starting July 19th. Wish me luck!

I never heard you weren't supposed to drink while on Cymbalta. I have a glass of wine every night and it never bothered me and I am continuing to do so on withdrawal. Actually though, I am hoping that when I get off Cymbalta I will have more control of my will and less sugar cravings and can quit having that glass of wine which does add calories to my day that would help me if they weren't there. Once I get off Cymbalta, I intend to work on losing weight.
Went from 90 mg to 0 mg in a 90 day taper. Unfortunately went back on Cymbalta and am now tapering the last 30 mg at -3 mg per week.

After about 3 months on 60mg/day, I increasingly drank more often (4-7 nights/wk, 2-4 beers) and did not notice any immediate side effects or reduction in the Cymbalta's efficacy. Though perhaps the increased drinking as a means for coping when the Cymbalta wasn't cutting it counts for something.
Now having been off the meds cold turkey for a week, I find I have an immediate reaction to even a few sips of the first drink - dizziness, loopy feelings, and mild disorientation. These, along with intermittent debilitating headaches, nausea and flu-like symptoms are my chief withdrawal complaints without the drinking. It seems as though alcohol exacerbates this for me.
