Was on Cymbalta 60mg. about 3 yrs. Stopped c/t when I lost my ins. Horrible w/d. Now back on and weaning slowly. Still suffering. Looking for help from people who have been there. Been tapering for 2 months, and down about 9 mg.

I've been on blood pressure meds for many years, but it has been well controlled.

I've been tapering off Cymbalta very slowly for over a year. Two months ago my bp

started creeping up, along with other w/d symptoms, nausea, mild diarrhea, headaches,

some mild anxiety. I went to the dr. last week and she added another bp med. But

it just doesn't want to go down. Usually, my w/d symptoms hang around for a week

or ten days, then I level off. This doesn't want to go away. I'm so frustrated! Has

anyone else had major blood pressure problems while tapering or going off Cymbalta?

well i have not had mine done to confirm but. My head hurts a lot. Mostly the back of my neck, it feels stuffy i cant explain it other than stuffy and very sore, eyes have a dull ache and feel funny and my throat is tight. from other posts i've read, this is common among us fortunate enough to have taken this poison! Anxiety causes some of it as well and is also common when weaning. Hope this helped and be strong we are here for you and in it together.

Hi,
My blood pressure did stabilize after I added the new med. I'm still on it and I'm still

tapering Cymbalta. I feel sure the rise in my blood pressure was caused by withdrawal.

I'm hoping when I get off Cymbalta, and recover I can discontinue the bp med. It was

scary for me too. Good luck to you. Hope you get your bp stabilized soon.

OMG, thank you for your reply! It reassured me so much... I thought I was cuckoo! I actually did not have the problem until I completely stopped and could not take the withdrawl. I caved and went back on and noticed the spike when I went back on. I ended up in the ER twice and the docs just keep saying to increase the BP med which makes me so sad. I think Im more afraid of the blood pressure than the withdrawl symptoms and my bp seems to be better when I'm off so yours will probably improve when you are done tapering. I just pray I can get through the withdrawl symptoms. Thanks again for your response. I feel so isolated bc I don't know anyone going through this and everyone keeps telling me it's anxiety but I've had my share of anxiety and this is different and far more frieghtening... With anxiety I can take a Xanax and recover. This is relentless: ( I hope we both have a better new year!

HI Icy,
I was thinking the same thing today, that nobody else can really understand unless they have been here.

I feel alone in this fight too. Every time I have a new symptom, I think it'll never go away, and I'll feel like

this for the rest of my life. I guess it's just all part of it. Also hoping the new year brings us new hope

in our battle to get off this stuff!

Dear Lundeliz:

Wow! I hear you... I'm very nervous about my upcoming withdrawls! How long have you been battling? What dose are you on now and does it surge every time you go down on the dose? I only tapered over a month and now can't go back on bc of the blood pressure issue. Between my anxiety and the Cymbalta, the blood pressure is out of control. I'm very disappointed I've gotten to this point but am trying to take comfort that so far my theory is holding true. It really helps to know others are enduring the same challenge! Keep me posted on your progress and I will likewise: ) Best wishes! LCY

Hello Everyone,

I just joined this site today. I went from 90 to 60 without realizing I would have side effects. Well I was already depressed but I became sucidal and spent a week in the hospital. I need to get off because it can aggravate restless legs, which I have 24/7. On one site I read a suggestion that you go to a compounding Pharmacy & have him help cut your dose ever so slightly over a long period of time. I think this is what I am going to do. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place. My Dr has not called me back so I can start the process. I think some Dr's either don't care or don't care to know. I am suffering terribly. Doesn't any Dr care. My neuroligist told me there was nothing more he could do for me, and never mentioned that cymbalta could be adding to the problem.Neither did the Dr I saw in the hospital and the Dr be for that. And now this withdrawl problem. I can't even work. I am on food stamps and I do not know how I will pay my bills. Is anyone else have a problem with RLS? I feel like I am on my own.

Welcome! I'm so sorry for your suffering... I worry about so many things bad happening but i never dreamed of something this insane: ( One ER doc blew me off, the other said I need a longer taper and my poor doc just looked it up in the PDR which says nothing compared to our misery! I'm like you and can't go back on (RLS for you, increased BP for me). I'm going to try a psychiatrist this week (if I can get in) for any guidance or help. I will share any info of course! I hope the compounding pharmacy helps! God bless... LCY

WEll, this morning I woke up with a headache. I thought it might be sinus problems

or allergies. It's a kinda funny feeling headache with a little nausea. Tonight I checked

my blood pressure and it is 189/102. I have no idea why it shot up all of a sudden. I took

my bp med a couple of hours ago. Haven't checked my bp again, but my headache is not

any better. This is all so very frustrating. It's just so hard to believe that trying to get

off a pill could take over your life. But it does, and for a very long time.
