I am hoping I will lose weight when I get off Cymbalta. Right now I'm still on 70 mg, (down from 90mg), so nothing much has happened yet.

Has anybody lost weight after they got off Cymbalta or while tapering?
Went from 90 mg to 0 mg in a 90 day taper. Unfortunately went back on Cymbalta and am now tapering the last 30 mg at -3 mg per week.

Please explain. Does it just "fall right off" because you are not on so much Cymbalta? Or did you make a big effort? Or did being on lower or no Cymbalta take food/alcohol cravings away? Do you think Cymbalta causes weight gain? I have been on antidepressants for years and have been overweight for years and I don't know what amount of my weight gain is my own bad habits or the "fault" of Cymbalta? Tell me more about your theories on this subject?

I gained a lot of weight since I started cymbalta.

Concerning weight lost, when I started tapering, I also made lifestyle (diet, exercise) changes, so it´s hard to know what exactly helped me lose weight. However I had tried to diet while on the medication and never lost weight until I started to reduce the dose.

Being on lower dosages didn´t take cravings away. It varied. During tapering my blood sugar levels were all crazy. They stabilized once I reached a very low dosage.
