Hello everyone,

I have been on 60mg of Cymbalta for 9 mos and wanted to get off as the med didn't work for me. My doctor told me to go down to 40 for a week and then to 20 for a week and then go completely off. I have been on 40mg for 5 days now and have some anxiety and headaches. But from all I have read online I am currently in a state of panic and fear because of the tortuous hell the withdrawal has caused. Is this inevitable for EVERY person who withdraws? Do some people experience mild to moderate w/d effects and just feel uncomfortable for a week or so or can I just expect to go virtually insane and suicidal and have bouts of rage, vomit daily, hallucinate, and put my marraige and infant's life at risk for months to come?

I am scared to death to withdraw at all. It seems that many of those who wean slowly suffer intensely- almost as much as those who wean quickly.. Are there some people who have taken cymbalta that can somehow handle withdrawal more easily? Just wondering...

Thank you,
Jen

I tapered slowly for a year starting at 60mg. It got particularly difficult once I reached 20mg. So I decided not to drop from 20mg straight to zero, but have tapered doing small drops. I even had to updose sometimes because I wasn´t feeling well. I rather be able to function, than to feel insane.
