Does anyone use something like this to make capsules for tapering off Cymbalta?
http://www.amazon.co...16010145&sr=8-4

It seems so tedious to count and re-make all the pills!

I am going to my doctor tomorrow.....i am at 60mg and i want to know if i can just switch to prozac as a way to get off cymbalta or if i should ask about some other combination of tapering and prozac.
would love to get advice before i go to the doctor tomorrow.

thank you!

Prozac works for quitting the Cym. At least, for me, it worked like a CHARM! Read my post about "The prozac trick worked"

Hi there! The only reason I joined is because this blog helped me to get off Cymbalta and I want to help spare anyone I can of the withdrawals. Ugh... they were bad. Anyway, I loved Cymbalta for the past year but at the same time I think it caused me to gain weight and I KNOW it caused dependence.

After losing my job and health insurance I found out just how much Cymbalta costs... $600 per month! I was taking a dose of 120mg's every day, kind of a lot since I've read MANY things saying that there's no real difference between doses as far as the results people have had...

I finally decided to wean myself off the way that the doctor suggested, slowly tapering the dose down to nothing. This did not work. I have just gone through the WORST two weeks of my life! What a mess! I finally gave in and let my doctor know what was going on and how I was feeling (WHICH I HIGHLY SUGGEST!!) she called me in a script for 40mg Prozac. For a month's supply without insurance it was only $9, now that I can handle.

Two days, 48 hours on Prozac 40mg and I was feeling 100% better, thankfully! Apparently, switching to Prozac and then tapering from 20-40mg dose after a couple of weeks down to 10-20mg and then after another couple of weeks down to nothing... Is the best way to go. It's not nearly as difficult to wean yourself off of Prozac as it is Cymbalta. I can PROMISE you that from personal experience.

I just really want to be able to help anyone who feels like I did... Call your doctor, ask for Prozac to help you get off of Cymbalta! It's worth it TRUST ME! No one deserves to go through the hell of coming off that naturally! I hope this helps and best of luck!!

I counted 192 (but I may have dropped a few beads!) beads in my 60mg pills.

That is 3.2 per mg.

So my goal is:
Week 1 decrease by 3 beads. (189 beads per pill) = 59/mg
Week 2: decrease by 9 beads. (176 beads)/pp) = 55/mg
Week 2: add 20mg of Prozac each day moving forward
Week 3: decrease by 18 beads (162 beads) = 50/mg
Week 4: decrease by 30 beads (132 beads) = 41.mg
Weak 5: decrease by 30 beads (102 beads) = 31.8mg
Week 6: decrease by 30 beads (72 beads) = 22.5 mg
Week 7: decrease by 36 beads (32 beads) = 11.25 mg
Week 8: decrease by 7 beads (25 beads) = 5mg
Week 9: Prozac 20mg only

Does this make sense?
