Was on 30mg for 3 years. Decided to wean off after getting blood work that showed I have extremely high liver enzyme levels.

Hi! I'm new here and just need a little support. I have been taking 30mg of Cymbalta since my daughter was born 3 years ago. I recently had blood drawn and have extremely high liver levels. This really scared me.
So, I decided that now was a good time to try life without this pill (and payment!).

I started tapering at the beginning of August- I take out 2 beads per day.
I have only been nauseated a few times, but the brain fog and fatigue is really getting to me. Once I leave work, my body is exhausted (I work at a desk on a computer all day). By the time I pick up the kids, go to the gym, and cook supper, I am done!

I've just been getting frustrated- this seems to be taking so long, is it really worth it?
I don't know anyone trying to come off of this. My husband does not understand and has no clue how bad I can feel.
Just needed understanding ears to listen. Reading this forum has helped so much...

I have also experienced the fatigue and brain fog. Fish oil has helped me. What dosage are you taking now?

I started at 30- so I estimate now I am only down to around 20.
I'll have to remember the fish oil. Thanks!

]I am new to this site and to withdrawals from Cymbalta. I was taking it for depression and Fibromyalgia and I wanted off of it. I went with dr's instructions (Neurologist) and cut back from 60mg to 30mg for a week -then 30mg every other day for a week-then stopped. I am a mess as I write this. Don't ever do this or go cold turkey. This medication is horrible.

Just back from dr's and he dismissed me as depressed and instructed me to see my general dr or a someone who could prescribe according to my symptoms. Great January is the 1st available appt.

I have never felt this sick. I have some 60mg left and am going to start counting beads and get to a place of some stability.
Nausea, brain fog, crying, can't sleep, brain zaps. no concentration, impaired vision, hot and cold flashes, sensitivity to all senses especially smells, ears plugged.

Friends are helping me think through what to do until I can get to dr. A good suggestion from one who has been here is to go back to 30mg every other day and get stable then try counting beads.

I hope and pray that this helps anyone who is in this situation. It's a nightmare.

I do not recommend the every other day regimine. Cymbalta does not work that way in your brain. The chemical make-up in Cymbalta does not stay in your system like some other drugs do. Depending on what part of the country/world you are in, Cymbalta is available in different dosages, so you can mix/match them and reduce at a SLOW pace. You may get in a hurry to get off the drug, but you will lessen the withdrawl effects if you go slow. My wife was on Cymbalta at 60mg with a brief jump to 90mg. It took her 6 months to get completely off the drug. She has now been Cymbalta-free for almost a year! Good luck on your journey....
