my doctor refuses to discuss my getting off of cymbalta. i don't see why he should have a problem with this. i am 65 yrs old, worked in the medical world for 28 yrs
and am fairly intelligent, but its hard for me to understand a motive in this. my symptoms have been angry bizarre dreams, which i often take out on my male friend. got uo recently to go pee and told him to keep his mouth shut, that i didn't really like him anyway. needless to say , i hurt his feelings. i also have the jerks , see things that
aren't there , skin sloughing off my fingers. i get so hot and clammy that one department store clerk wanted to call 911.i wAke up in the night and can see extra skin sloughing off my fingers and in some sort of fugue state i scrape each finger off with other hand and toss the skin into the air where it floats and looks like lace. when , i awake for real there is nosign of skin removal. i also see rats, bugs on my bed, and feel like i am falling and wake up gasping and grabbing side of bed. it is very frightening, as you can imagine if you've ever fallen. what would cause him to keep saying not yet , ???

Oh dear. If I were you I'd be seeking a second opinion. The reason? There's no money in it for your doctor if you stop taking it.

For your doctor to refuse discussing the issue with you is downright negligent.

We are all experiencing nasty side effects either while still on this poison or from withdrawals. Mine are from withdrawals. I'm on day 20 of being 'clean' & am still suffering BUT it is slowly getting better. There is a light at the end of the tunnel - thank god!

My dr tried to put me back on Cymbalta because I was not happy with his attitude towards this forum of average people sharing horrible experiences & I told him so in no uncertain terms. I told him where to stick his drug & walked out. I'm not giving in now.

In a moment of lucidity, try to explain how much like heroin this crap is to your friend. Maybe read some of our posts to him. He will sympathize I'm sure when he has an
understanding of how evil this poison is.

In the meantime, hang in there  & seriously - get a new doctor or just follow some of the different methods people here have to come off.

It's time to find someone who knows their stuff. My main side effects are the dreaming issues and the body jerks. I still haven't found a doc that understands the side effects, but my current doc listens to me and works with my goals, so I am content with her. Why does your doc feel that the side effects outweigh the symptoms? A second opinion is definitely in order!
