I made a post earlier about the hell I was going through while trying to get off of Cymbalta. I've been on it 10 years, and every single aspect of my life is being severely effected by me trying to get off of the drug. My doctor has me on a 6 month program to ween off of it.

Does anyone have any information from a legal standpoint that can help me? From the day I started (age 13, I'm now 24), I have scanned every single prescription into my computer. I had no clue the kind of hell I would be going through for months and months trying to get off this drug. I believe Eli Lilly is 100% responsible (or irresponsible, depending on how you look at it) for the hell I'm going through, and my hell could have easily been prevented with basic verbiage, full disclosure, and resources.

Any help would be appreciated. My job, friends, family, relationship, fitness, and nutrition have all been drastically effected in a very negative way. The worst part is this sense of not being able to care about anything in life. I'm not able to give any emotion into anything, because I simply can't. These are months that I will never be able to get back and do over, and every single day is simply a placeholder of time until my brain begins functioning normally. I am going to an acupuncturist, naturopath, and multiple doctors for help, but that doesn't get me back the months/years I've had taken away from me by this drug.

Thanks,
Shawn

fortpecker - thanks for those links. I'd like to sue the pants of Eli Lilly too. I am very damaged thanks to Cymbalta. A class action is probably the way to go & get this drug banned. I heard you can't get past their massive legal team as an individual. They know this sh*t stinks and have no intention of putting patients before profits.

Giving this drug to children of 13 or any age is serious child abuse.

Email Erin. I already have and the more people on board is how a class action gets started. I know it's hard because of what you are already having to deal with, but this is your life that they are playing with.

There are many warnings given by doctors and pharmacists before people can take Accutane. Monthly blood tests are required even. I personally just don't understand why doctors heavily prescribe Cymbalta? The issues with these withdraw symptoms are not warned about, and I don't think many doctors are that knowledgeable about them. Accutane is used as a last resort drug - the drug you are finally able to take after exhausting all other options to treat cystic acne. Cymbalta needs to be like that, the last resort drug that people take once they have exhausted all other options. More warning need to be given to the patient before starting by the doctor, pharmacist, and a large warning label on the prescription itself.

Keep me updated on this class action thing you have going on. I am so irate at how many people are having issues and how much the drug is still being prescribed.

I am interested in joining a lawsuit for the withdrawal syndrome from Cymbalta. It is horrible and I am miserable. Please let me know if you guys start one, I will participate as well.

I want to get my life back

Posted 06 January 2012 - 09:03 AM

This drug stole my chance of going to university and living my life. I think I'm ready to sue. I think we all are.
But to be on it for 10 years... that seems so wrong. Incredibly wrong! You're still young, you can get those years back. I know I'll be getting my 16 months back.
