I have noticed a lot of people here who claim that fish oil supplements are great for Cymbalta withdrawal. This might be true for anyone who took Cymbalta for depression related issues only but for anyone who took Cymbalta for specifically anxiety related issues, taking fish oil might not be a good idea.

Anytime someone is withdrawing from anything like a SSRI drug or alcohol the brain's neurotransmitters are in a VERY sensitive state. Fish Oil can boost dopamine levels dramatically and in a very short time. Dopamine is an excitatory neurotransmitter and is a precursor to norepinephrine and epinephrine. Both epinephrine and norepinephrine trigger the fight-or-flight response, directly increasing heart rate and making anxiety worse.

I took fish oil for a few weeks and my anxiety got worse and worse until I stopped the fish oil. I also got nausea, dizziness, and insomnia from the fish oil too. A boost in dopamine levels is not what you want if you suffer from anxiety. Just google fish oil and dopamine and anxiety and you will find many others who have had a bad reaction to fish oil supplements if they have anxiety. Just wanted to pass this on that fish oil might be great for people with depression only but anyone with bad anxiety issues might not want to take this supplement as it could worsen the anxiety.

I have read online that even flaxseed oil can raise anxiety and insomnia. It seems like any supplement that raises Omega 3 can also raise anxiety and insomnia. These supplements might be great for people who have depression but anxiety is another issue.
