I just came across this site because I have been asking my drs to come off of this med because I don't remember me any more! None would "allow"it.So I have decided to do it on my own. now I see all this about hellish withdrawl. makes me wonder if this isn't why they didn't want me to go off. But, I have been complaining about brain zaps to several doc and none seemed to know what I was talking about. I actually felt happily vendicated to see others having this symptom! Maybe I'm not crazy'huh? Now I think that I'll try the counting method to get off of this shit! I've been on it for years!Wish we could allsue the SOBs!
I had a Dr. take me off meds cold turkey once, years ago, before changing me another drug. When I tried to explain brain zaps, she brushed it off as me being "sensitive" to medication changes. She thought I was nuts. I described it as electrical charges in my head. Nowadays, its all you hear about with withdrawal. It's very real and very awful. I am terrified to go through it again, even though I am going to wean slowly. not sure how I will get to work...

OMG. I just came across this website cause it is 2:15 am and I cannot sleep again. Had no idea this would be so hard to stop taking. I kept taking it cause they advertise it for arthritis pain also but i finally realized it was doing nothing for me. My doc. said ok to lower to 30mg for 2 weeks, then stop. I love my doc, have known him for 35 years. I think they really have NO idea what this does to people. the dizziness started 4 days ago. went to my chiropractor who also studied neurologly. He knew I was going off Cymbalta, and said it would be a beast--no kidding. the brain zaps have gotten worse, and now I feel sick to my stomach. I'm gonna be pissed if I start puking. Now that I see what everyone else has to say, I'm gonna do some more research and hang tough. Gonna let my family know what's going on too. I know they will be supportive-just hope it doesn't take too long.

Always wean off pschycotropic drug very gradually. I am granule counting, started with two then three and sometimes five. Mild brain zaps only in which case I plateau for three or four days. Took out 85 granules tonight. If no zaps tomorrow will take out 90 tomorrow. Getting there......Diet is very important, sugar and processed carbs contribute to depression and brain fog and for the record Cymbalta made no improvement to my Fibromyalgia. Big Pharma, big money, big lie.

What do you mean by "brain zaps?" I have lots of dizziness and headaches, feels like someone is pulling my brain out the back of my skull.
