Hello , I am considering changing my plan for chronic pain.

I have had numerous life threatening accidents over the years, I am 41 with the body of a 80 year old.

I am currently taking tramadol 150 mg a day and suldinac (an ansaid anti inflammatory) and feel beat up every day.

My knees, shoulders, hip, feet, hurt most. it goes on and on.

I do hike and live a fairly active life, but find myself laying down all too often.

From what I have read I am pretty much scared away from cymbalta, but the squeaky wheel does make the most noise and complainers are the ones typically motivated to post.

So would I need an anti inflammatory to go with this drug? I know advil isn't recommended and wonder if I need to compensate for the swelling.

Thank you

Alan

I probably posted in the wrong area, so mods please move as necessary.

Also I was on oxycontin and other narcodics but was smart enough to get away from them.

Lyrica left me drooling and a zombie.

Thanks for the help.

Hi there, :)

Let me start by saying I understand pain..And I am NO dr...this has just been my experience and this is my opinion...with that being said...

I was told to take cymbalta for my depression..to deal with the death of my grandma..it seemed to help at first..maybe the first year...fast forward to 2012...Im done! No more poison in my body..its been over 4 years..due to fear I kept taking it..I dont want to scare you..but for me paying attention to my emotional behavior and a new partner the past 2 years..who is both supportive & loving..he's my rock..we came to the conclusion that I was having way more sad days in bed, not wanting to live..as in doing any of my fun hobbies...just wanted to sleep! had a very
'who cares' attitude.

2007 I had cervical disc fusion..14 months later an emergency hysterectomy & blood transfusion...I had Tried suicide 2x...
sorry that might be TMI

Bottom line..research other meds!!!! Please I live with nerve pain..I've changed my diet..NO GLUTEN..sounds bad...Trader Joes, Fresh n Easy both have some really great foods..I take B12..its magic..

Cymbalta is NOT originaly for PAIN...I really think it a big lie to have more people take it..the withdrawls are not worth what it might do for your pain...which isnt much...

I'm weaning off for the second time..60mg everyother day..eatting very healthy..my family has noticed a big difference...for 1 I dont walk past the scissors and want to plunge them in my neck..I'm out of bed..going outside..being social...didnt leave my house for the last several months of 2011..today I have the curtains open..wanting to be outside..actually talk to my neighbors

Its only been a short time 'weaning' but other than a couple of side effects...I feel alive, clear headed and on the road to recovery!!!

Be well my friend and God bless! :D
