Hi, I have actually been reading this forum for a few mths but now I am one of the sufferers along with everyone else. My story is that I got on the 60 mg back in May 2011 and was doing great on the dose. In early December a tumor was found in my abdomen and I had to have surgery to have the tumor, my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed (no cancer Praise God!) However, I lost my job over this and went into instant menopause (I am 45). Worried about the menopause I asked and got a dose increase to 90 mg of the cymbalta. Well then in January 2012 my insurance company decided that they would now require preauthorization and a 3 mth script for cymbalta. AFTER insurance it cost over $200.00 so I couldn't afford it. The pharmacy gave me 12 pills to get me by until I could get the preapproval done. I decided then that I would start to wean because I couldn't afford the 3 mths. I asked my Dr. for prozac and they want me to stay on the cymbalta. Not an option. Soooo, I am now down to 2 pills left and was doing the every other day thing until I saw on here that doesn't work very well. I tapered the 12 pills from 2 per day, then one per day then one every other day. The first day after the first missed dose I discovered how wonderful those brain zaps are. Now I have the nausea (btw, dramamine does help that), the headaches, the sensitivity to sounds and light, memory and concentration issues, fatigue and body aches. I used to take Sam-E before the cymbalta and it worked ok for awhile so I started that again (no interactions, I checked b4 starting) So far it helps with the mood. Going to cut out the caffiene tomorrow. Diddn't know that aggrivated things until now and I already have a headache so why not kill two birds with one stone. I will let you know how that goes. The biggest issue for me is the Sinusitis. It is awful and I wear a cpap machine at night which makes it worse. Any suggestions on how to help that one would be greatly appreciated. Wish you all the best of luck. We WILL get thru this if we help each other.

Thanks for listening! It helps to vent and know people understand. Kathy aka Flutterbybalance.

I feel ur pain Kathy. Cymbalta changes their patent every few years so that a generic cannot be produced. Being from the rx industry I am sickened by what a scam this is and have seen so many unable to afford their meds including myself. If u can't go off it completely try calling your doctor about getting something with a generic written. It won't make you feel 100 percent better but it can help :) good to know dremamine helps I'm going to get some tomorrow.
