I am currently fine with taking cymbalta and other antidepressants but want to winning but seems impossible so shuld i die by side effects like lever damage and continue with drugs or should i die by withdrawing drugs and who knows what happens to me as duration of 4 years i think withdrwal symptoms may last for whole life pleaes help I am from India please please

Your situation is not hopeless! You can quit Cymbalta if you want to. There are ways to stop using Cymbalta with minimal side effects. You can taper down your doses slowly to 0 under the care of a doctor, or you can taper down to a low dose and then take a different antidepressant, like Prozac, when you stop the Cymbalta. But, you should always consult with a doctor when discontinuing Cymbalta.

If you are concerned about damage to your liver, then you should have your liver enzymes tested immediately. Not everyone who takes Cymbalta develops liver problems. I had my liver enzymes tested and they were fine.

Don't give up hope...you can stop taking Cymbalta if you choose to!

I was prescribed Cymbalta just about as soon as it hit the market! Yep...a little over 4 years ago. I am just almost through my first week Cymbalta free and at one point the doc( I use that term loosely) had me up to 90 mgs. A day. He refused to help me with the taper or to give me anything to make it easier. It hasn't been nearly as bad as I thought it might, mind you I'm not saying it's a party  . My fear of what might it be like was much worse than my experience. I have to credit a number of awsome, caring people on this board for smoothing the path and also Catherine for her posting of her Taper Schedule. You can find it on her site: http://www.catherinefightsback.com/
You will make it, I'm a 64 yo lady who has Fibromyalgia and other health issues along side of dealing with bankruptcy, foreclosure , my Mom having dementia & taking care of &her living with us & Cymbalta. That's just the tip of my iceberg...so you see if someone like me can , then you can too.
We are all here to help, hang in there and you can beat this and come out the other end stronger and much wiser ;)

darshaks, if Cymbalta is working well for you then it shouldn't be a problem. It just never did work for me at all, at least not long anyway.
The side effects were not worth what little good it did do, it just made everything much worse. If it had worked for me I would still be taking it. You can always deal with stopping when & if it quits working or you don't need it any longer. It may not be bad for you at all. It's different for each person. You can find dedailed instructions on how the taper works if you go to the link I posted in my first reply to you. She lays it all out on her web site. I didn't use any other drug to quit, just took a little less every day until I was down to nothing. If you have trouble finding the taper instructions let me know and I'll try to get it to you..

To iliao93,

Thanx for your response i found on site that she was very eager to know whole world that she is really feeling all that bad symptoms but no one could understand her at last she was happy that doctors accepts that electric zaps are side effects so i think she spent time in searching of what she felt and why ? and she got answer at last

but i didnt found tappering dose

for example like reduce 10 mg for first week than another 10 mg for another week like that

i just want to hear your story and process of tappering dose i know each human body is different and respond differently but just wanted to know how u tapper in your case schedule wise and in how many days u come down to zero dose from 90 mg per day and how much time has gone after withdrawing drugs one month or tow month what ? and how u feel your withdrwal symptoms are barrable for yor or not so i can have some hope that person like you who has also taken cymblta for long like me can also withdraw
waiting for your reply

thanx again for spending your time for me without no cost i hope i can help you sometime in future though i wish u will never face any difficulty in life in future

No problem darshaks , if you go to her page and look at the top where it says "Home" & look right under there it will say " My Tapering Journal"... click on that....scroll down just a little bit and you will find a chart that tells you how to take the capsules apart. It will also give you a breakdown of how many little beads to remove and how often to reduce the dose. It's all trial and error for us.
If you want an idea of my story just do a search for my posts. I apologize for not being up going through my story right now.
I had a fairly good start to my first week but this weekend the withdawals are kicking me in the teeth.
If you still have trouble I'll do what I can to help. My reason for being here is to help as much as I am able.

Hi darshaks

My daughter used Cymbalta 2 years and getting out of it, is a real hell. Still I believe, we will in this fight together. If you will know more about it, go to an other Forum, Cymbalta Survivers Support Index - Forum. There you can read our story in "Personal Experiences" by "lazup" and "What are you feeling" also by "lazup. There I tell about few healingtherapies, which may help and where you can find them.

Nobody here is alone, if anybody gets out of Cymbalta, then everyone can do it. Don“t give up, you can get support here and in the other Forum. Use them and FIGHT - so we all do and we win together, not Cymbalta. :) :) :D

with love

Oh honey, you have all my sympathy. I was only on Cymbalta for 4 weeks, when each and every symptom kicked in. It's been hell, thats the only way i can describe it, like hell if there is one. Thank God I was on for a short time. I took the advice of one of the members here, "Allie", went to my pharmacist and he made me up 3 strengths, 30 one week, 20 one week and 10 one week and then I should be clean, I pray I will. Today is the first time in 28 days that I only had one side effect, so I am thankfull for that, because I fear the next day's. I would rather die than experience all these horrible side effects. Please, see your doctor as this is a chemical 4 and get a script for weaning. You'll be alright if you do that. Take care of yourself. Barbara
