Hey all, Hope someone can give me some insight on what is going on. I will try to make this short as possible. 2.5 weeks ago, my phychiatrist switched me from 90mg cymbalta to 50mg of pristiq. He advised no weaning would be needed. Within a day I was a bit irritable and worse, had a constant dizziness. Finally, 2 days after switch, I called the Dr. on a Saturday to tell him what was going on. Apparently I must have caught him at a wrong time and he was very short with me and advised it had nothing to do with withdrawels and if I didnt like the pristiq, then go back to cymbalta. (The original reason for switch was the cymbalta was starting to not work as well as beginning approx 7 months earlier). Anyway, that was all I could get out of him, very short with me. I suffered through weekend and on Monday called my regular physician and explained the problem, mainly dizziness. When he heard I went cold turkey on cymbalta, even though I started pristiq at same time, he immediately told me to take 30mg once in morning and once at night for 5 days then 30mg once a day for 7 more days. It seemed to help a little but I am nearing my end of the 30mg a day and still have good and bad days on diziness. One of my main problems I am being treated for OCD and high anxiety so this dizziness isnt helping much.

Question: Is this a normal withdrawel effect (dizziness) and if so is it possible that it could still be causing it after 2.5 weeks?

BTW: My physician has already referred me to a new phychiatrist but that first appointment is a ways away.

Yes Mike...you sound like your having withdrawal's & not to bum you out or add to your anxiety...some people have these symptoms and many more for months. Each of us have different reactions and time frames. Do some searching on nutritionals and dietary guide lines here and you can also get very good advice at survivors.com! Most of the folks who have a lot of experience with this who were posting here got worn with all the spam and have started their own forum. Hang in there you will make it through!

Thanks for the info. I sure wish I knew this stuf about cymbalta before getting on it. Sometimes you just trust that your Dr. knows what he is doing.

Thanks
