I wanted to get other view points and the terrible post Cymbalta melt down . It would nice to get this drug off the market .

Posted 09 April 2014 - 09:50 PM

It took two years for the Withdrawal symptoms of Cymbalta to go away . I fixed my back with a inversion table.

Just quit the Cymbalta and had no clue of consequences . My hands shook , and the funniest one was the involuntary

twitches . The last symptom was the anxiety . Lasted over two years . Dealing with people or almost anything .

I never understood why people would become Ocd and reclusive . Now I know . It's the worst feeling in the

world . I hope everyone is improving . Dealing with the anxiety seemed liked a endless nightmare . I suppose

if you were alone on a Island with food , there would be no anxiety . I think society causes the problems that

people pick up over the years . I know I don't fit the mold . But in a subtle way , I am able to to do well .

Honestly I would rather be by myself in a cabin somewhere .

I will say , dealing with the withdrawal did help me view situations in a different way . In a good way . Like

figuring out complicated problems in my life . It was like a free Psychiatrist in my head .

Like taking LSD or Mushrooms . You view things different . In a positive way .

Thanks to "Fishing Hat" for the help . And everybody . I really appreciate it .

I noticed they removed the Cymbalta ads from TV . Maybe that's a good sign .

Well done! This is no easy task, and it's great to hear you're doing well.

You're right, after coming through this we do view things differently. And I too have found a new and more comfortable relationship with my solitary self.

I'm coming up on 21 months off Cymbalta and am almost completely back! Thank you for your uplifting post.

Essentially I am here for support and real information. On a journey away from this medication and towards a mindful, present state of being. My goal is to find courage, my hope to help someone along the way. Change.

Thanks to GranGan! I can relate to so much of what you shared.

Now that you mentioned this, I have noticed the ad-vertisements, of lack thereof,  but thought it was due to the generic crapalta's debut. I still would urge ppl. to call the FDA number in their particular states as well as Lilly's own reporting system; even tho... It can be anonymous.

Do you feel Cymbalta has changed you? Does your brain feel the same after Cymbalta as it did before?

Yes Cymbalta changed me . I understand and respect people more now . People who have problems , or disabilities . And looking at things from a ethical

standpoint . It did some good things and some bad things . But I think the good things won .

That's good to hear . I had taken it 5 years . So , about 2 years + . I have my friends but it's a small group . We know each others problems so it's no big deal .

I think for me , hiding the anxiety and being insecure made it worse . Once I talked to a friend about it , it was very relaxing .

Interesting . That was another reason I quit . It was so expensive . I would open the capsules and just take half . As for reporting , I'm all for that . Thanks -

I agree.  I too have more understanding with people that have disabilities.  As I still have dysarthria after almost 7 months off.  Family say they can understand me more now.  Before it was non expressive monotone mumbling. But still talk very slow and deliberate.  Constantly explaining to people why the speech thing is happening.  Otherwise they talk differently to me,like I have a developmental disability. I spend more time crying over this.  It's so isolating, sometimes I can't stand it.

Now that I have been off this poison for over 6 years, I hope to help others as they join us

Posted 08 November 2014 - 08:31 AM

Oh, Blackbird,

You have some wonderful positives that have been added to your life.  I'm so sorry that you are still having the speech problems after all of this time.  I pray that this will continue to improve.  This poison is indeed the most hideous of any I have ever heard of and the stories we all have are so upsetting - no one should ever have to experience these things.  Feeling isolated is miserable - I feel that way myself at times, but for other reasons.

If only the Dr.s would become educated regarding the withdrawal and its effects.  Let's hope that it will eventually be taken off the market,  sparing so many others these terrible symptoms.  I know that I have become very sceptical of taking any other meds and am trying to educate myself regarding their effects.  Except in few circumstances, I feel that we are all being "drugged" to death.  Therapy is the kindest and I feel most helpful way to deal with so many of the depressing issues - even other ways to deal with pain - acupuncture, massage therapy, etc.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, Blackbird.  Being off this crap for 7 months now is worthy of a big Congratulations!! :) :D

Liz

5 months on cymbalta, scary side effects, to get help and to return the favor if I can.

Blackbird, you are correct in saying that we are more understanding and compassionate in regards to others with disabilities.

At least something good came out of it!

Glad that your speach is improving.

Gargan,

Congratulations on your recovery although so drawn out..thank you for sharing your journey with us! How are you feeling now? Do you see a dramatic difference?

I only hope mine doesn't last that long. I've been off Cymbalta since Oct. 27 and have had moderate zaps. They feel like an airplane flying over my brain! Also I've noticed that I can't make decisions or handle any stress. My idiot pdoc had nothing to say when I mentioned the zaps and had no explanation.

He believes there is no difference between withdrawal and discontinuation. Is there? Is it normal to feel 'empty headed'? J try to think a thought and can't finish it. My brain is frozen. I am terrified that I have brain damage
