I just found out I was pregnant so I decided to stop cold turkey.  No one warned me it would be 13 days later and I would rather be dealing with morning sickness then what I am going thru.

My eyes seem out of focus, I have a blurry feeling when I start to think about anything, and before this my lips and face were numb feeling and soda pop feeling (at least that ended).  I have increased my visits to my psychologist so I have someone to yell at and so on, but he did not even warn me that this could happen if we needed to stop.

Does anyone know how much longer this lasts?

Thank you all

Lenadiane , firstly ..how long have you been taking Cymbalta & @ what dose ?. If you're going cold turkey you're probably in for a very rocky ride.
One of our wonderful experienced members will let you know the best way to do this , but I imagine that by being pregnant , it doesn't give you the option of doing the bead counting method which is the best way to withdraw.

Hi Lenadiane.

I agree with Wagtail. Cold turkey can be a rocky road. Cymbalta is not approved for use during pregnancy unless its discontinuation would prove to have a greater impact on mother and fetus.

There is essentially no science on Cymbalta and pregnancy, but studies are ongoing. Here's one being run by Eli Lilly on Cymbalta, pregnancy, and the impact on the fetus. Should you elect to remain on Cymbalta, you may wish to be part of that study.

The overt withdrawal symptoms could last from 6 to 8 weeks following cold turkey. Then you should see light at the end of the tunnel and know you can make it.  But it varies, and you could get through the rough part in less time, perhaps a month. The symptoms will gradually diminish over the following few months.

I understand that this is a rough time for you, and you have some important decisions to make. The literature indicates two things: the mother's stress level has the greatest impact on the development of the fetus, and the effect of Cymbalta is unknown.  Whichever way you chose to go, your stress level will have to be managed.

That's all I have. Take care.

Lenadiane, Here is some recent studies on Cymbalta and pregnancies and a one line summary below the link.

http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/23471302

No significant effect on fetus.

http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/21359876

Low amount of cymbalta across placenta and in lactation.

http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/23218163

Text not available.

http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/23873363

No effects on new born health.

http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/19809008

No effect on fetus, newborn at birth or during lactation.

http://www.ncbi.nlm....les/PMC3590601/

No significant outcome to pregnancies.

Even though no real shocking results it is important to note that they all end with a warning of "it is best to exercise caution during pregnancy."
