As I've gathered from my research into weaning off Cymbalta, it really is awful. I always figured it would be once I realized what it felt like to miss a dose. I've been on all sorts of different mental health meds for over 15 years, and only Cymbalta has made me feel like death.

I will say Cymbalta did work for me for the past few years, but now I need new meds. I've been on Lamictal for a few months now. Doing well with it. Actually I'm lucky in that most meds don't cause me many adverse side effects. Was also on Strattera for a bit but stopped it and am now starting Brintellix. Minus a bit of nausea, so far so good. But my doc wants to wean me off Cymbalta which terrifies me because I know what I feel like less than 12 hours after I miss a dose. Horrific vertigo is one way of putting it.

I just saw my doc a couple weeks ago and she refilled my Cymbalta script for 6 more months. I think if I do the bead counting and wean super slow with the 6 months worth of scripts left, I'll be good to go. I hope so anyway. I only ever got up to 60mg. I can pop down to 30mg with no problem. It's what I'm on now. But to go down to nothing from 30mg. Pffffft. Might as well take me out back and put me out of my misery. No thank you. So, once I find some empty capsules, I'll be on my way to bead counting for the next 6 months. Wish me luck! :)

Welcome Mamba! You've got a good plan, and you can do this!

I'll write more later today...I'm on my way back to bed, and hopefully to sleep, after dealing with a bit of my own current issue....anxiety....

Take heart, please....I'm starting my 7th month off...after 7-8 years on 60 mg a day.....life is so much better without the poison....having a clear, sane mind is wonderful !

Mamba hello, you do seem on the good track with bead counting. Good for you that you got from 60 to 30 with no problem.

The 6 month plan is a great way to do it, slowly. Dont be terrified, you got 6 months, others had no choice but cold turkey. They made it with a lot of pain, but they did it. Consider yourself lucky to be able to do it in a safer way.

Keep us posted Mamba.

Now that I have been off this poison for over 6 years, I hope to help others as they join us

Welcome, Mamba! :)

I am one of the cold turkey survivors and don't recommend it to anyone!  I was 2 weeks in when I found this forum.  I'm happy that you know about the bead counting and have a plan for your withdrawal - it will be much more gentle...

Good luck and please keep us posted!

Again, welcome - you will meet wonderful, caring and supportive people here :D
