Withdrawal is often jittery and frantic and it's easy to get bamboozled by bead-counting and bead-math. Therefore, consider this withdrawal plan based on 100.

100 Percent Over 100 Days

  • You withdraw over 100 days at the rate of 1% per day. That's 1% of the beads (bead % = dosage %).
  • Day one take out 1%; day two take out 2%; day three take out 3% and so on to day 100.
  • You need 50 capsules of medication and additional empty gel caps as required.
  • It's not perfect, as your capsule may have 370 beads and you will end up with an odd number like 3.7 beads. Round down to 3 beads which will yield more than 100 days in the end, but you will have symptoms that are less acute overall.

TM ... I love this plan ... but I'm math challenged ... how do I know how many beads = 1% ?

Would I take the total number of beads, for example, if a full dose capsule were to have 370 beads, would I multiple the 370 by .1 ?

If so, that would mean 1% of 370 = 3.7 beads ... ?

So, since I can't divide the beads, would I round down to 3 beads, or up to 4 beads.... and then remove that number the first day, and so forth?

(My high school math teacher begged me not to sign up for any of his classes beyond basic algebra ... for both of our sakes ... ;-)

Hi FN

The rounding up or down will always be an issue unless you're fortunate enough to have a capsule with 100, 200, or 300 beads (unlikely).

On a calculator (say) 370 X 1% = 3.7 or 370 X .01 = 3.7 (multiply by .01).

You need to reduce by a factor of either 3 or 4 beads additional beads per day, and of course it will yield a different number of days. 3 per day yields 123 days and 4 beads per day yields 92 days.

I would go with the 3 beads per day over 123 days (round down). I will add this note to the original post.

It's a place to start.

Gotcha... I do like this plan ... easy to remember... easy to do ... well, now that you've helped me with the basic math!

Just wish I'd done something sensible like this, rather than just go bungee jumping without the bungee cord ...

FN

Haha! Clearly, you had an exceptional brain to begin with and the bungee jumping doesn't appear to have affected it at all!
