Day 3 without Cymbalta and noticed my BP running 130-140 over 90 which is high for me. My normal is 110/70. Anyone else notice this and what helped to lower it?

Thanks!

That is about right for those of us who had a lot of post cymbalta anxiety. My Dr. Increased my clonidine a little to compensate. Clonidine is an excellant bp med as well as anxiety.

Bummer!

I am so discouraged today. Went to the doc for a work physical and my BP was 130/110.

Please tell me I haven't stopped one drug only to be put on another for BP!

Thanks for letting me vent. You guys are great!

BTW I am on 20 mg and tapering 10% per month.

That is a great plan. Have you gained any weight lately? Usually bp rises when you come off but not that much, especially at your slow rate. If the dr wants to put you on a bp med you might recommend clonidine as it  is very effective on anxiety as well.

FH,

thanks for answering. I am hoping this is temporary. I've NEVER had high blood pressure! Any side effects with clonidine?

I developed severe high bp and tachycardia within a year or so of being on the poison ...it's a known, but uncommon / rare, side effect ... I told my doc that I though the drug was causing it, and he told me I was "being silly" ...

But, my bp, and pulse, dropped to "borderline" shortly after I stopped taking it ... I started taking clonidine last year ... it's been great, cuz it takes care of the borderline high bp and works on the debilitating anxiety I was having. (I still have some anxiety, but not the panic attacks.)

Depending on how long you've been off the Cymbalta, my bet is that your bp will normalize ... or possibly you'll be left with a bit of borderline high bp ...

Clonidine has been around a long time. It can cause some intial sleepiness. Doses are usually around .2 mg (2 tablets at 0.1 mg each). They usually start a patient out at 0.1 ng at bedtime until they get use to the sleepiness. Then add the other 0.1 in the morning. When you decide to stop the clonidine, it is usually reduced over a 3 or  week period. No withdrawal just what they call a rebound effect i n bp. It will elevate around 10 to 20 pts for that period nd then settle back down.
