I've been successfully weaning off with the 2-bead countdown method since February.

There were approximately 300 beads in my 30 mg. (Breknridge - generic) capsule, 100 beads
per 10 mg.

I was on 60 mg for at least 8 years.

So I had my doctor right the script for 50 mg (one 30 mg + one 20 mg capsule) as I continue to

count beads.

The 20 mg capsules are generic from Citron.  They contain 126 beads in the capsule - so
I'm trying to figure out the best way to adjust to the different beads.

I'm not a math wizard but 126 beads /2 (per 10 mg) is 63.

I just don't want this number change to throw me off too much.  I've not been feeling

any symptoms of withdrawal. :)  Maybe I should only count 1 bead down each day with
the 20 mg capsule beads?? instead of the 2 bead countdown.

I'm thinking that I should just go a full week with these new capsules (30 + 20 for 50 mg) to
make sure there are no noticeable symptoms with that change.

Any other suggestions or thoughts on this?

I've figured out a couple of weeks ago that I only have about 250 days left of this process.

Hope to be off of this before my son's wedding next year in April.  He just got engaged

this week!!

Hi ButterflyWings

Good idea to stick to the 50mg for a week just in case there is anything different with the two brands of pills

After that you could try to continue at 2 beads countdown and see what happens then if you do get any symptoms you could drop to a 1 bead countdown if necessary.

If you were further down in the mg per day I would go with 1 but up where you are now there is a good chance that you will be able to handle the 2 bead countdown.

Once you are much further along you may find that 2 beads is too much but only time will tell.

Take care of you and be well

Hi nice to meet you. I had to wean ever so slowly off this poison. My 60mg brand name capsule contained 200 beads. It took me over

4 months to wean off after being on this nasty drug for 18 months for pain due to osteoarthritis of my lower back. Glad that you're here.

These wonderful caring ppl can help. They helped me. They are the BEST at what they do!

Thank you, LadyNancy and Equuswoman, for your recommendations and encouragements.

Yes, I tried tapering off two years ago before I knew of the awful side effects and it took me three

months to get my brain straightened out.  I was barely functioning for the first
four months of 2013.  So that's why I'm sticking to the slow and

steady process.  I've been on this drug for nearly 10 years now due to living with

chronic pain.

Pretty sad that I spend most evenings counting beads for the next week.
I've experienced many challenges in my life so this is just a little inconvenience.

Can't wait to celebrate at the end!!!!

We will all get there together.  Strength in numbers!!
