of withdrawal that usually show up while you are weaning? Can it be anything, or are there typical ones to watch out for? Could the first symptoms be physical OR emotional? Are there several that show up at once, or can it be just 1 thing?

Btw, I don't think I'm experiencing C withdrawals at the moment, but I want to know what to watch out for in case my taper's too fast.

Hi Ramona,

You are wise by weaning - I went cold turkey off of 60mg 18 months ago and all of last year was almost more than I could bear.

Not to say that you will experience the same things, though many have.  Physically I had the headache from hell for 2 solid weeks.  I would actually wake up crying, the pain was so bad.

Emotionally, the first thing that hit me was uncontrollable crying - it seems that this is typical for most.

I hope that your weaning is slow so that you can avoid this.  We are here for you so please continue posting!

Liz

I'm sorry you went through such a hard time!

I'm still on this rollercoaster of going down, then up, then back down on Cymbalta...So far I've made it from 90 mg down to 69 mg.

When I experienced withdrawal this spring from being dropped abruptly from 60mg to 40 mg, the first few days were just physical symptoms for me, and then after that the emotional symptoms came, too.

So now I'm wondering how the withdrawal symptoms show up when you're slowly weaning.

Ramona,

Perhaps you are weaning too fast - go back to where you were last stable and stay there for a while.  When you feel ready (your body will tell you) go down very slowly - try at least a week each time you drop and if it is still too much, drop fewer beads.

Not having used the bead counting method, I am no expert but we have some who are and I hope that they will hop on here soon to help!

Please sloooowwww down!

Ramona,

I have been weaning since March. I was on 60 mg of Cymbalta but have been on Ssri's for 25 years. I am tapering 10% every week. This week is 6 mg. My symptoms are a mixture of both emotional and physical. I have an awesome psychologist who helps with the emotional issues so it's a learning process. I am hyper-vigilant to watch my emotions and use relaxation techniques before they get out of control. The physical symptoms, luckily, have been mild and vague. The worst so far were dropping from 60 mg to 30 mg....the swooshing in my head made everyday tasks difficult but I pushed on. Now that I am at such a low dose, I have increased allergy symptoms (sneezing, inflamed sinuses, etc), and occasional feelings of just feeling unwell (tired, aches and pains). Luckily, no brain zaps which I attribute to going slow and taking magnesium and fish oil. The message here is to go slow, know your body, and be kind to yourself!

TryinginFL - I am not in the withdrawal state that I was in this spring! I did stabilize. So far I haven't had withdrawal symptoms from my weaning from 90 to 69 mg.

Wonderful, Ramona!

Guess I misunderstood given the questions you asked...  Keep up the good work!

Ramona, Good Morning

At the very top of the "what are you feeling" section is a pinned discussion where many many people have listed their symptoms. You might give that a look.
