Hello Everyone,

I have been getting excessively tired these days.  I will preface this post with telling you that I do in fact have OSA which is Obstructive Sleep Apnea.  I am currently on a C-Pap but it doesn't seem to work as well as it did when I first began.  I was on starting back in 2011, then I was taken off of it due to some ear surgery I was having. I was off of it for almost a year and then went back on it. Now, I don't feel like I am rested enough during the day.  But when I sleep as late at 8:30 on days I am off, I feel too rested.

I get tired and sometimes feel I can barely hold my eyes open. I have to get up and walk around of drink an energy drink to help out. I am currently taking Tylenol PM to help with sleep, my doc wanted me to try Ambien but I am wary of it. I have the script I am just wary of it.

What else could be causing this?

It is so good to hear from you Raven. It has been too long but I am sorry you are having so much problem.

What a question to answer.

1) Most sleep aides do give us rest but limit REM sleep so the next day you feel tired or drowsy.

2) This time of year with the short days and cloudy days you produce more serotonin which makes us sleepy. (this is the basis to seasonal defect disorder)

3) I am sure your body is still not fully adjusted to life without Cymbalta as well. You may be experiencing swings in your serotonin from that.

I would suggest that you try to take a 30 minute to 1 hour nap once each day for the next two days. If the nap refreshes you then it is probably the serotonin issue.

If not, well I am afraid I have no clue. Way too many things can cause daytime drowsiness.

Thanks FH,

I have greatly missed being here. The only thing about naps for me is that I work everyday. I can't take a 30 min to an hour nap. I have a 30 min lunch but it's impossible to find somewhere to nap at my clinic.  I feel like my sleep patterns are slowly working themselves out, but at the same time I am still tired every day.  I do have off time after today, so maybe catching some rest during that time might help. I don't remember the last time I had my serotonin levels checked but I do remember them being okay or at least according to the docs they are okay.

Here's to better days in the future.

Raven

The problem with checking serotonin levels during a period of stress is they can change hour to hour.

Well here is hoping that you can get this all worked out and return to a good sleep pattern.

Hang in there.

UPDATE:

I received some much needed rest over the time I was off during the New Year holiday. I returned to work yesterday and felt great. No, problems at all. Today on the other hand I remain drowsy and feel run down. I feel as though I slept well, although I had a really hard time waking up and getting out of bed this morning. I chose to wait until I arrived at work to take my medicines and then forgot until about 10:00am or so to take them. I am sure that didn't help matter much.

On a side note to the aforementioned trouble waking up. I do seem to have quite a bit of trouble getting out of bed in the mornings. I want to sleep late but then when I do I feel horrible. :(

It may be the two Tylenol Pm . You might try taking them 1 hour earlier so that they wear off one hour earlier in the morning.

White I didn't take the Tylenol PM 1 hour before bed last night, I did only take one of them and today so far I seem to be a little better off.
