Welcome Swolf

Two years is an extreme but does happen. Next thing I want to mention is the FDA and the Manufacturer have warnings against stopping Cymbalta rapidly. It can cau8se suicidal thoughts, seizures, etc. You insurance company does not want the liability of this by canceling your Cymbalta coverage. By calling them I bet you can get additional coverage for 2 or 3 months to give you a chance to wean. You do not want to do this cold turkey. Another option is to get a different ssri/snri and start on it. One your insurance will pay for. Once you get settled in on that then you can slowly wean off and suffer a lot less.

You can also get a prescription for clonidine  and or hydroxyzine to help with the symptoms. They are non-addictive and have no withdrawal. Like all meds they work for some and not others.

As far as usual time frame?  Well that varies a lot. I would say average once you get down to zero usage is 2 to 3 months of severe symptoms followed by 6 to 8months of slow improvement. Realize this is a generality. There are people who have NO withdrawal symptoms and others that take 1 or 2 years.

What symptoms are you having now?  How long since your last Cymbalta?

Can you get a prescription for one of the two drugs I mentioned? Clonidine or hydroxyzine? Where I am generic clonidine is only $4/mth, I don't know about hydroxyzine.

Hi Swolf,

Do keep the anxiety down and use the klonapine for those unbearable times.

Fishinghat did mention clonidine and hidroxizine. Works for some.

There is always Benadryl Total that is great for anxiety. Alternate between Clonazepam and this one.

Real good move Swolf! Take the time to stabilize, then bead count if you wish.
Cold turkey is not recommended except in certain cases.

How many mg? 30 or 60?

Please don't feel bad about this as you did yourself a great favor!
