Hi, I'm Lilli and I am new to this group.

I tried several ways to ween myself off duloxetine since March and finally found this sight talking about the bead counting method. I started taking this antidepressant last year in the beginning of June. I went from 60mg up to 90mg then 120mg, which my PA said was the max dose for my weight. I was able to get back to 60mg in February no problem, but going to anything less has resulted in horrible withdrawals. Tonight I began the bead counting method and took 3 beads out of my 60mg capsule. I took the rest of the beads without the capsule. Is this ok? I am very scared...

Thanks, Lilli

Hello dear Lilli,

Good move. You need to take them in a capsule. Health food store has the gelatine capsules.

My tablet is going haywire, I will be back.

Welcome Lilli

Gail is right and the point she was going to make was don't throw those little beads away. Get some empty capsules and you can use those beads later when you get to a lower dosage. You are off to a great start. Remember that 3 beads a day is sort of the maximum I recommend to start with. If things start getting too uncomfortable just stop dropping and stabilize before you begin dropping again. Don't let the symptoms get too bad before you pause in your weaning. Once they really get started they last awhile so very slow and steady

Lilli, did you go from 120 to 90 and from 90 to 60 with no problem? I ask because I went from my max of 90 down to 60 3 days ago. So far it's been OK.

It sounds like perhaps you began having problems trying to go from 90 to 60, and so have started to count pills and taper very gradually. I am hoping to go from 90 to 60 in about 2 weeks, but I expect to do a slow taper after that. You've already halved your dose, which is a very good thing.

Good luck with your withdrawal. As they say, "slow and steady wins the race."
