I was put on cymbalta for small fibre neuropathy, I only managed to get to 40mg daily, side effects horrendous, brought on major anxiety, panic, feelings of dread, hasten to add I am no longer taking it, I took my last 20 mg dose on 31st May. Since then, I have a constant headaches, nausea, palpitations, fluttering, muscle aches, sore to touch all over, feel muggy, shaky, tremors, think I'm having a heart attack (clearly not) feel totally pissed off with feeling like this, how long will it take for my body to settle down. It must be like asking how longs a piece of string ??? This is the 4th drug that I've tried for fine fibre neuropathy, I just can't tolerate them, I've been on amitryptiline, gabapentin, and pregabalin. So now I find I have all my symptoms back of the small fibre neuropathy as well as anxiety. Any ideas greatfully received. Thanks. Seeing Gp next week and don't know where to go to treat my condition.

Hi Janine,

Welcome even if I can't answer your question. But don't worry, our Fishingbrain knows. He is a four legged encyclopedia. He should be in ebd of afternoon taking care of his sciatica.

How long were you on that medication? Stand by...

Janine, welcome

I am sorry to say that you are in Cymbalta withdrawal. People with pain issues who take Cymbalta not only experience the typical Cymbalta withdrawal but also what is called rebound pain. It depends on the per as to how long it lasts. On average it can take 8 to 12 weeks to begin to see improvement. Having said that there are some who have no symptoms and others who have symptoms lasting a year or more. We usually recommend 500 mg of vitamin c per day, 2000 mg of Omega 3 (high in EPA and DHA)  as well as staying well hydrated.

If things get too bad you can always pour most of the beads out of a capsule and take it. It should give you some relief. Benadryl helps with so me of the anxiety issues but beware it can make you sleepy. I will look to see if any of our old posts mention anything that people took to help with the pain. I will return.

One person mentioned two extra strength Excedrin helped with headaches and some of the body pain. Sorry, that is all I could find.
