I am SO glad I found this site.  My doctor put me on Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia.  I was on it only for 4 weeks, and started having side effects that were worse than the symptoms they put me on it for.  Decided it wasn't for me, and thank God that I researched before i just went cold turkey.  I was put on 60 mg and went to 75% for 2 days, then right down to 30 mg.  Have minor withdrawal effects, but nothing debilitating.  I'm now down to 80 beads, with a reduction of 5 beads a day.  Again, side effects are there, but I can deal with them.

So far, my pain is back (that is the only benefit of Cymbalta), had a few brain zaps but not bad, headaches, extreme dizziness, tremors, memory loss, and electrical zaps though my body...especially if i have a itch and scratch it...feels like lightening bolts running up and down.  No nausea which was my biggest concern since I'm an emetophobe.

So, my question is...going down 5 beads a day (my capsules have 330 beads) and I'm at 80 now, at what point do i significantly slow down the taper?  Also, I've taken Fishinghat's advice and got the Vitamin C and Fishoil.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jessica

Well let us see. Eighty beads out of 330 is 2.42% which equals .73 mg of Cymbalta you are taking. That is a low dosage. I think considering how short of a time you were on it I would stay with the 5 bead drop until you notice some symptoms start to flare up. At that point I would go back up 5 beads and stabilize and then see what dose you are at.

Thanks for your response, Fishinghat.  Actually, it is more like 25%, so 15 mg.  So still have a ways to go.  I will do as you said and stick with the 5 until it gets close to the end and take it from there.  I just know that you said that when you get down to the last 5 beads, to take it really slow.  Just didn't know what that means.

My bad!! I transposed a decimal point. You should keep going until symptoms develop or you get down to 5 to 10 beads and then begin tapering slower.

Sorry about the miscalculation.

No problem. I'm going to stay on course as long as my symptoms don't get worse. They are manageable so far. My hair loss has slowed down so I know I'm on my way!! Ear pain is starting to subside too. Definitely nervous about the end... But can't wait to be done. Might have to be restrained from kicking my doctor in the balls though for ever putting me on this, but that is another story.
