Hi Bronx.

First off..my Mom, who has Fibromyalgia and a slew of other chemical and environmental sensitivities, has ALWAYS had something that has bothered her.  Second, as you have probably have found out in all your research, these body re-wiring medications cause so many different issues to so many different people..being on them as well as getting off.  Third, she was only on 90mg for 4 months.  So, when I say there were no issues tapering from 90mg-->60mg I mean there where no major issues.

With all that said..yes, she experienced the achenes, extra thirst, sleep disturbances, etc. etc., but like you, she tolerated the discomfort and pushed through. The key is, and you stated it, if you can "tolerate" whatever side effects that appear, keep going...BUT when things get intolerable..that's when the next choice you make becomes very important...especially when doing the big drop from 90---60mg...  If things get tough in the next few days, I would say go back to 90mg. and start the bead count.  Only you will know.  Slow is fast in this game of tapering.

Fishinghat is the man (guessing FH is male) to keep tabs with during your progress because he's been through it ALL. All I can do is try to remember what my Mom actually shared with me, but I have no clue what she kept to herself.. I hope you understand what I mean by that.?...

Good luck to you BB..I'm praying for you and for ALL who pass through this very helpful forum.

Have a great weekend..Colin.

Thanks CR. I know that my situation is not analogous to your mother's, but right now she is as close to a role model as anyone I have found. I realized today that I have been affected, but only slightly. Nothing that prevents me from moving forward.

We plan to snow ski this weekend, and I wonder how I'll do. I imagine I may have to rest a bit more than usual. If we come home next Friday, as expected, I will drop down to 30 next Saturday. I plan to stay at 30 until July 4, then start counting pellets. I am taking a generic, and can't find any documentation about the number of pellets inside the capsule. So at some point I will buy gel capsules and open up a 30 mg duloxetine to see if the pellets inside are suitable for tapering. If not, I'll have to figure out about insurance coverage etc. I'll ask fishinghat whether there are any generics which fit the plan.

I almost got involved in another site which would want me to taper slowly from 90. I couldn't imagine doing this for that long if there was an alternative. So we'll see if I can go directly to 30 in about a week. I hope so.

This whole process is unbelievable. I never imagined that it would take over my life. And of course I haven't seen anything yet!

You have my admiration for what you're doing with your mother. Best of luck to both of you.

Barbara

Hey Barbara.

I understand about the age thing and having nothing to compare your situation to..I scoured the inter-web trying to find a comparison for Mom, but the only thing I found was that everyone was different..very frustrating.

As to your quick reduction to 30mg..you might want to check that.  If I remember correctly, we allowed between 2 and 3 weeks before we dropped from 60--->30mg.

Just my two cents worth..

My Mom's on generic as well, but each capsule has odd sized beads..more like little uneven rocks.  For the taper from 30mg I'll be using a digital scale to keep the right dosage moving along.

Mammoth rocks. B)   Used to ski there frequently..as a matter of fact, I've skied much of West and East Coasts of the USA...and much of Colorado.  Man those where the days.  Hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy the Sierra Cement.

Also, I'll make sure I pass the info along to my Mom about her being a "role model".. :o

Thanks again for the kind words.

Good night.  Colin

Colin, to put your mind and that of mr. fishinghat to rest, I will have been at 60 for 2 weeks before I drop down to 30. So hopefully I'll be OK.

I too have skied east and west coast, and lots of places in between. I love it.

I bead counted and had absolutely no effect until the last 5 beads. You never now. It varies so much.

Thanks fishinghat. It would be wonderful if I had no problem down to 5 beads. Right now I just hope for no problem dropping to 30 mg. It's tempting to do it today but I think I will wait until I return from my next trip in about a week.

I have generic duloxetine made by Citron. Do you know what sort of pellets they use? If they are not the tiny ones, do you have a suggestion as to which generic is best for tapering?

I guess that if I switch generics, I'll have to go through an additional stabilization cycle at 30 mg. What a PITA this drug is in so many ways! A tiny portion of my mind is telling me that it can't be that difficult and I should go CT. Fortunately I've read enough to understand the risks involved and my rational mind will do it correctly. What did people do to learn this type of information before the Internet?

Thanks.

They did not learn. They just suffered.

I don't remember which of the generic had the tiny beads. Maybe some else has a better memory. I do know that many changed back to trade name Cymbalta for the wean.

Hi BB.  Thanks for the message.  To be quite honest with you, I forgot all about it.  I felt so sorry I even wrote what I did.. I (we) were having a bad day that day.

I AM SO THANKFUL FOR THIS FORUM..!!!!

My Mom is off all the prescribed poison(s) as of yesterday, Thanksgiving Day 11/23/2017....Thanks be to God.

Much thanks to ALL of you for your prayers and support.  Because without you, NONE of this would be possible.

As for Liz and Gail...much love and prayers will always be said and stored up for you both.  May your journeys end in the Grace and Love of God...and may He always keep you in the palm of His hand.

To Fishinghat..you are my Mom's special blessing sent directly from the Lord Himself.  Your wisdom, kindness, support and love for ALL is a beautiful miracle, and watching you pass it out with ease and grace to SO MANY has left me in utter amazement and awe.  I will always have a place in my heart for you and I will also continually pray for you and yours that His peace and grace keep you until the day you too are called home.  I am so grateful for ALL of your help.

May the love of God keep you ALL and give each and every one of you the strength to finish the race.

Going HOME soon...can't wait to meet you all in the clouds.

Thank you, thank you, thank you again so very very much.

Peace, Grace and MUCH Love,

Colin

Oh my sweet Colin,

What a beautiful post you wrote. And about our Fishinghat, we would be a little lost here. Thank God for people like him.

Your mom is real blessed to have our boy and yourself for support.

Seems as though that you're going home eventually, I will meet you there unless I get there first. You will recognize me as Sid at first, and should I see a gorilla, I know that it will be you. Should you smell a cigar from your cloud, follow the fumes! I will be on the fluffiest cloud you've ever seen. With love, Gail xxxxx
