Hi all
Not sure I'm doing the right thing. I'm changing from Cymbalta to Gabapentin after feeling that Cymbalta was not working for me.
Let's start from the beginning!
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 11 years ago, after not knowing what was going on with my body for years and feeling like a total hypochondriac! Great I thought, now I know what's wrong with me the powers that be ( Drs ) would fix me and all would be well. Ha ha.
5 years later I finally spoke to the NEW Gp and he said what drugs have you tried? "Drugs ? I didn't know there were any that could treat this awful condition " oh yes there's this that and the other he said. So the first I tried was Pregabalin (successfully may I add) for 4 years, then all went down hill. Dr then added Sertreline to my prescription but after 6 months I couldn't cope any more and without telling him I just stopped all meds ! OMG what a mistake that was. Talk about cold turkey, was back at Drs within a few days in tears. So the next one to try was Cymbalta! Have been on this for 18 months and has done nothing for me at all so back I go to see the Dr again. He said most people with fibro take Gabapentin try this. He wrote down how to transfer from one to the other. I goes like this :-
Day 1
1 Cymbalta (60mg this is my normal dose) + 1 Gabapentin 300mg (8am)
Day 2
1 Cymbalta + 1 Gabapentin 300mg (8am) + 1 Gabapentin (2pm)
Day 3
1 Cymbalta + 1 Gabapentin (8am) + 1 Gabapentin (2pm) + 1 Gabapentin (8pm)
Day 4, 5, 6 and 7 same as Day 3.
Day 8, through 14.
1 Cymbalta 30mg + the 3 doses of Gabapentin
Day 15 onwards just the Gabapentin.

I now feel like I'm going to explode ! Not sure if it's the lack of Cymbalta or my body just can't cope with Gabapentin? HELP.

Hello and welcome,

You seem to be in withdrawal from the C. I really doubt that gabapentin has anything to do with this.

Many go from 60 to 30 with no problems.

Reinstate at 30, see how it goes. If okay, bead count your way down. Continue Gabapentin, it will help with Anxiety. It took rid of mine. 300mg three times a day? Less?

Others will chime in.

Thanks for support Gail
I'm actually on day 19 now !
I know if I start C again the withdrawals will stop, but I've got this far. Just wandering how long it might take to stop.

    Cymbalta withdrawal

Hi
I was on gabapentin and cymbalta and a host of narcotics at the same time for fibromyalgia.(for 7years) Gabapentin does not work the same as cymbalta so it was likely cymbalta withdrawal. Make sure that you track whether or not the gabapentin is working and if not don’t stop it cold turkey. It has nasty withdrawals as well.

Hope it helps and your cymbalta withdrawals get better. You have come to the right site!
