https://www.ncbi.nlm...pubmed/29235884

"After 8 weeks of antidepressant therapy (for major deprerssive disorder), there were more STPs with vortioxetine than with duloxetine (27.4% vs 22.5%, respectively). "

A success rate in the 20% range. I don't consider that very good. Not exactly encouraging.

Thanks for posting 'Hat.

...and with a study population of 176, those figures are quite significant. Worrying also that an older SSRI surpasses a newer SNRI by +20%. Why then Duloxotine is considered the default second line medication in the UK I will never know.

But what really annoys me is the underlying element in this study - although we all know it to be a factor.

Money.

Its all about money. Let's find out which is the cheapest option to give to patients, regardless of their wellbeing. Regardless of the fact that mental health in the UK is the biggest killer for men under the age of 45. Seriously - what has got to give here?

This always plays that way in the UK as every patient is given a yearly budget. If the GP goes above that budget, they get in trouble. Thus it is like being penalised for being ill.
