Hi,

I was on 30's then 20's for over a year. I tried to just stop and I felt awful. Dizziness, sick and no energy. I then tried alternating days of the 20's. I just felt crummy on the days off the meds. Then I took my 20's, opened them, divided them into thirds, and put them into old 30 caps after discarding the innards. I didn't bother to count the little balls, just eyeball it and go for it. It will be close enough.

The 6's that I made were enough to keep me from feeling too bad. No dizzyness. After two weeks I stopped. There were the withdrawl symptoms again. Not as strong but still were present. I think its been about 3-4 weeks now and I'm still feeling them mildly once in a while.

I try to get lots of exercise, stay positive and that seems to help. On a good note, my sex drive is returning after almost vanishing while on Cymbalta. I'm feeling a bit blue / depressed at times but it is manageable.

I hope this helps someone. I really think Cymbalta should be provided in a ween off dosage. A week of 30, week of 20, week of 10, week of 5, week of 2.5. That might help. This drug has its good points but in my opinion it is addictive, unlike any other medication I've taken.

;)

I agree wholeheartedly. I never had an addiction to anything in my life until Ambien and Cymbalta. I tried to wean too fast and it made me feel like I was going to die! I am now going to go down 6mg every 4-6 days. If you have withdrawal symptoms maybe you came off too soon. You can try stretching out a little longer with a dose just enough to get you out of withdrawals and then start coming off again a little more gradually. Hope this helps. Shakey

I'm sorry but how do you know that you have 6mg of cymbalta. Does 6 pellets=6mg? How are you people coming up with the knowledge of how many mg you have when the smallest available is 20mg? Please teach me this trick because I need to cut back on the 30's so today I just left a few pellets out but need a magnifying glass if I wanted to count them. I saved them in a small container so I can eyeball for tomorrow. I'd really like to know how to get the exact mg. dose??

many of my symptoms are the same or similar to yours...my biggest hang up was while on the drug, i had no sex drive and i have always been over sexed. when my wife and i decided to have sex, too many times i could not ejaculate but never any problem with ED (very frustrating). i have been on "the drug from hell" for 2 winters and 2 whole years starting out at 30mg and going to 60mg most of the time. i started weaning off a month ago (on my own, big mistake) by taking 1 tab 2 days on and 1 day off for 2 weeks, then every other day for 1 week and every third day until sunday i went off completely. i have not felt so bad since i was hospitalized with hemolytic anemia 5 years ago and almost died. i ache all over, headaches, terrible joint pain (in all joints), no energy, very fatigued and have extreme problems going up and down stairs and getting in and out of the car. one excellent thing though is my sex drive and all that goes with it is back. it will not be a week until Sunday and i hope it won't be months like some of the posts i have read. i am new at this posting thing and hope to get some feed back on this. hope things get better for you every day. john

john - expect to be over this soon! First few days are not fun or comfortable.
Keep posting and let us know how you are doing -

Don't think that this might go on for months, the experience that everybody has with this is really individual. Your magic number of days will be different from all of us, because we all have different brain chemistry - knowing what may or may not happen is being prepared, you know what might happen, not what will! hope that every day brings a multitude of significant progress for you.

Lots of success stories are here from people who made it through on their own or with the help of another antidepressant. Some stories are pretty quick. It does not go on forever and does get better!
