The FDA has issued a new warning for celexa (citalopram). Patients 60 years old or older should not be prescribed 20 mg or more of celexa. Studies have shown that amounts over 40 mg/day may cause significant cardiac irregular heart beats. For details see;

http://www.fda.gov/D...y/ucm269086.htm

As lexapro (escitalopram) is only diferent from celexa by a few atoms many drs. are using the same criteria for lexapro usage.

Thanks fishinghat

That's good to know.

If they are saying over 60 then I think I would start being cautious after 50 just to be safe.
