I had quite an adventure yesterday trying to get help with my withdrawal symptoms. My day started at my therapist's office, who was quite concerned by my withdrawal (body aches, chills, dizziness, hallucinations, etc). I was recently released from a hospital for SI, and she was worried that my physical symptoms would bring my mental state down into a dangerous place. She recommended Patient First.
We took a trip to Patient First. $30 later, they told me they don't treat withdrawal, sent me to the ER. At the ER, triage was very suspicious about my withdrawal. They were mainly concerned that I had stopped taking it against doctor's orders (not true, I was initially weaned inpatient). They also did not seem to understand that Cymbalta withdrawal isn't consistent/gets worse, and wanted to know why my withdrawal hadn't been treated inpatient.
They finally sent me into the locked psych ER, where I sat for awhile where they figured out what to do with me. ER doctor gave me 2 mg of Ativan (which was awesome, I relaxed and slept). ER psychologist told me that withdrawal wasn't dangerous, I needed to basically deal with it and contact my PCP if I was still having withdrawal in a week (which I'm sure I will be. . ) She was fairly useless. So I'm going to continue to manage my symptoms with the supplements and meds I have, and hope that I don't have a mental crisis again. Anyone have similar experiences? Advice?
