Carleeta, can you explain that machine to me / us ... what's the "PCR" they mention ... is that technology "legit" or is the article bogus?

hospitals are weighing in on with-holding treatment from some ebola patients in the US. the reason is not so much resources but risk to healthcare workers.

on the surface, this sounds absolutely horrifying that medical decision-makers at hospitals would entertain thinking this way. carleeta, please weigh in on this - as well as anyone else with a medical background. what am i not taking into consideration?

yes, it is true that we can't hold a gun to a medical professional's head (in a manner of speaking) and tell them they have to - and i would never suggest it. i realize that ebola is much riskier than most other contagious diseases, but from what i understand SARS and MERS are more dangerous.

can you imagine if doctors without borders and samaritan's purse (and others) chose not to expose themselves? who volunteer to risk their lives in a much less safe environments? we definitely would have an epidemic here and throughout the globe i certainly understand why someone would make the choice not to go to a third world country where resources are virtually nil - but we have the resources. we just need to implement protocol using those resources. they are heroes and nothing less.
