    help

Posted 01 February 2016 - 03:47 AM

Hey i dont really know why I'm really here tbh, after googling alot i found this place so here I am, hope i can get some tips/help or smthin

23, I've been on Cymbalta for about a year now and I'm coming off it now. It helped a little bit in the beginning with depression and suicidal things, but I've just been getting worse and worse. I have absolutely no motivation for anything, everything that used to give me joy just doesnt anymore. I used to be a full time artist and going to Uni, but everything just became hollow for me, even while on the cymbalta which was supposed to help. I had to drop out.

Dr decided to take me off Cymbalta and we're going to try something else once Its out of my system.
I was on 120mg, Dr reduced it to 60mg last week, an this week I'm supposed to start having 30mg tablets, I thought that was probobly too fast but i didn't really ask many questions to be honest, i just wanted it out of my system and to be ok again. Ok and have at least some sort of drive for life back again.

Currently feels like I've drank too much coffee? Heart is going, shaky, not panicking but definitely not calm.
Intense feel like I need to be doing something, constant feeling of sickness an all consuming dread.

I dont know what to do to shake this feeling, I've tried cold showers, calm breathing, everything else i normally do to try and relax, I'm really at my wits end.
Does it get worse? Should I keep taking the 60mg for a while longer and not come off it this fast?? I really don't know what to do

ty for reading sorry if i typed in the wrong place

Welcome SE

I keep trying to post  but it keeps dropping it. URGG

Things will probably get worse. You are young and not been on it for years, those two factors will help. BUT you are dropping way too fast. Open your capsules, count the beads inside and drop about 1%/day, usually around 3 beads. This rate can be adjusted up or down as necessary but is a good starting place.

I am going to post this before I lose it again.  lol

Hi scrambledeggs

Yes that is much too fast and I recommend that you stay at the 60mg until you are not feeling sick and things calm down.

You have to realize that most doctors do not know that about 20 percent of people have withdrawal symptoms when stopping this drug.

Once things settle down then as fishinghat says bead counting is the best way.

Let us know how many beads are in your capsule and we can help you with a more sane taper off.

Some things that help are to stay well hydrated by drinking lots of water, each day  take 3000mg of omega 3 and vitamin C. I take 1000mg of omega 3 with each meal

Take care of you

Nancy
